Grex Kitchen Item 139: Unique? (shudder) item
Entered by gracel on Mon Jul 14 20:22:13 UTC 1997:

This attempts to be a complete description of a box that I picked up near
the elementary school on a windy spring day (*not* a mass market production,
as will become obvious). The box was empty, and had suffered water damage.
Spelling from the original.

Front and one side: Mostly a picture of an orange mass with black streaks,
in a black dish. (My first assumption was that this was some kind of
pizza, but read on) A picture of a hand, with face sketched on it --
eyes, nose, mouth-with-teeth somewhat turned down at the corners -- which
seems to be the logo. The words "Caterpiller Helper".

Text from other side:
"Nutrition facts
  based on a daily value
Serving size: 2 c

Calories [1 illegible digit followed by "0", best guess 40]
Fat 7 G
Protien 5 g
_______________________________________
Vitamin A [totally illegible]
Vitamin B    [totally illegible}
Vitamin C 20 %
thiamin 25 %
Calcium 25 %
Iron 3 %
Vitamin D 5 %
Zinc 17 %
Copper 18 %

Ingredients: Caterpillers, chedder cheese"

The back of the box:
"Also Try These Kinds" with pictures of similar boxes, including unhappy-face
hands and somewhat varied illustrations, labeled "Toenail Helper" and
"Worm Helper".
"Directions:
1. Cook caterpillers until brown.
2. Mix in cheese.
3. Cook for 30 minutes."

Sounds like something from the National Lampoon's food section.
Yummy!

I've seen a box of Roadkill Helper. Dunno where it came from,
but I expect it was either a gag shop or via mail order.

Sounds vaguely like the "Wacky Packs" stickers that were all the rage
when I was in 5th grade or so.. They lampooned the packaging of popular
  products..

Weird. I used to have hundreds of Wacky Pack cards. But now the only one
I can remember is the Wacky Pack sticker "Dampers [diapers] - Sure to rust
your hampers". And various products with pictures of worms sticking out.
