A bagel and an apple!

#2 of 43 by popcorn on Fri Sep 22 14:13:33 1995:

It's still morning -- haven't eaten lunch (or breakfast, for that
matter) yet. I'll be going to a farewell lunch for a co-worker today.
It's at Bennegans, so I'll probably be eating their one veggie menu
item (some kind of pizza, I think).

#3 of 43 by iggy on Fri Sep 22 14:51:16 1995:

it isnt yet 8am, so i'll tell you what i had yesterday.
a tuna-pasta salad, with freshly picked cherry tomatoes.

#4 of 43 by bmoran on Sun Sep 24 02:07:19 1995:

I got off work just after lunch time today, so I ducked around the corner
and had some French Seafood Chowder from the fish market. Great on a
chilly day like today!

#5 of 43 by popcorn on Sun Sep 24 14:56:46 1995:

Yesterday I had a veggie burger at Casey's, at the Grex walk debriefing.

A tomato sandwich on toasted wheat - got to get in those last few weeks of
fresh garden tomatoes!

]Today I was doing a bunch of errands, ended uip doing fastfood.

I generally don't eat lunch.

#12 of 43 by danr on Mon Dec 11 23:26:43 1995:

Salami from Zingerman's on bread from my bread machine, accompanied by an
apple, chips, and Vernor's.

#13 of 43 by denise on Tue Jan 23 18:26:00 1996:

Lunch was a cheese sandwich [on potato bread from the 9th St. Bakery].

#14 of 43 by freida on Wed Jan 24 17:20:21 1996:

Lunch is homemade bean soup and a slice of homemade bread with my own
raspberry/pear sauce on it.

#15 of 43 by headdoc on Thu Jan 25 22:27:47 1996:

During the cold winter days, lunch is more and more often, a bowl of soup.

#16 of 43 by scott on Fri Jan 26 00:33:50 1996:

I'm trying to avoid lunchmeat... I'm not actually a vegetarian, but I consider
it a good idea to avoid meat anyway. I've been experimenting with various
pattie type things from the "Health" food freezer at the store. So far no
problem, except for the price...

#17 of 43 by popcorn on Fri Jan 26 00:56:21 1996:

I keep looking at the fake lunchmeats and wondering....

#18 of 43 by mcpoz on Fri Jan 26 01:58:50 1996:

It's pretty easy (even I can do it) to fry up a burger using Falafel mix and
on top of that, it's good for you.

#19 of 43 by abchan on Sun Dec 22 16:30:51 1996:

Ordered pizza for lunch... too lazy... today I'm planning to make soup though.

#20 of 43 by otter on Sun Dec 22 17:50:17 1996:

I'm about to go upstairs and make a veggie-stuffed omelette for lunch.

#21 of 43 by slinkie on Tue Dec 24 20:05:08 1996:

pizza

#22 of 43 by abchan on Tue Dec 24 21:21:36 1996:

ramen

#23 of 43 by popcorn on Tue Dec 24 23:09:23 1996:

Amy, you mentioned looking for a way to lower the fat in your diet. One tip
is to read the ramen packages. Most ramen noodles are deep-fried in high-fat
oil before being packaged. But some brands aren't. Reading the labels should
help locate the non-fried ones.

#24 of 43 by abchan on Wed Dec 25 18:28:44 1996:

<abchan examines a package of ramen>
Total Fat 8g
Saturated Fat 4.0g
Total Carborhydrate 26g
Dietary Fiber 1g
Sugars less than 1g
Protein 5g
<abchan wonders why they don't have mandatory courses that teach you how to
understand these things>

What was this item about again? Oh yeah, lunch.
Pizza with green peppers, mushrooms and onions.

#25 of 43 by slinkie on Wed Dec 25 18:45:50 1996:

Caesar salad with grilled chicken thrown in.

#26 of 43 by popcorn on Wed Dec 25 19:26:42 1996:

Amy -- the label should also have a section with some percentages. It should
say things like "Saturated Fat: 18%". This indicates that you're looking at
a food item that contains 18% of the saturated fat that a normal person should
get in a normal day. Depending on what part of your daily intake of food,
that could be a lot of fat or a little. For example, a cookie or a serving
of salad dressing that contained 18% of your daily allowance of fat is awfully
high in fat, while an entire lunch or dinner that contains 18% of your daily
fat allowance is relatively low.

#27 of 43 by eeyore on Thu Dec 26 04:03:54 1996:

i really didn't have a "lunch" today...late breakfast was corned beef hash,
fried egg, and english muffin. i could just hear my artiers clogging!!! :)

#28 of 43 by denise on Sat Dec 28 23:27:48 1996:

Lunch today was a sesame bagel with cream cheese, lettuce, tomato, sprouts,
green pepper, and cucumber. And a glass of iced tea. Dinner is yet to be
determined!

#29 of 43 by otter on Sun Dec 29 06:36:47 1996:

Green salad with a little cheese and grilled chicken. No croutons, no
dressing, no bacon bits, and <eeep!> no fork. I hate it when that happens.

#30 of 43 by denise on Wed Aug 1 13:17:21 2007:

Yesterday's lunch was a vegetarian sandwich; it was pretty good!

#31 of 43 by edina on Wed Aug 1 15:24:48 2007:

I had spaghettios yesterday. No joke! I love them.

#32 of 43 by samiam on Wed Aug 1 18:18:39 2007:

I just had a ham sandwich. Sounds boring, but not really. Honey ham,
pepper jack cheese, and honey mustard grilled. Yum...

#33 of 43 by denise on Wed Aug 1 21:08:02 2007:

It's been a long time since I had a grilled sandwich. Grilled cheese by
itself is good but then, so is grilled cheese with various stuff added
[like Debbi's sandwich]. Like any combination [or individually] of
tomato, onion, deli meat, etc.

I had a late breakfast/early lunch of some left-over chicken, a slice of
cheese, and 2 biscuits and a touch of mayo.

#34 of 43 by keesan on Wed Aug 1 22:14:22 2007:

What is the definition of lunch? We eat at random intervals when someone
feels like cooking. Our second meal yesterday was around 9 pm. Too hot to
cook until then. I had shredded wheat a few hours ago as a treat.

#35 of 43 by edina on Wed Aug 1 22:22:47 2007:

Wow. We have totally different ideas of what a treat is.

I would say that lunch is the mid-day meal that is taken anywhere
between 11 and 3.

#36 of 43 by keesan on Wed Aug 1 22:41:17 2007:

That means I almost never eat lunch. Shredded wheat is an expensive precooked
version of whole wheat flour. Usually Jim makes bread instead. I suppose
preground flour is also a treat. He used to grind in a manual grinder.

#37 of 43 by edina on Wed Aug 1 22:50:12 2007:

Why you two are not on Pioneer House is beyond me. ;-)

#38 of 43 by i on Thu Aug 2 03:02:15 2007:

Lunch today was a piece of homemade walnut shortbread and an apple.

#39 of 43 by denise on Thu Aug 2 12:26:41 2007:

For me, I'd probably define lunch as having something [to eat] not
shortly after getting up in the morning and not soon before going to
bed. I usually don't have 3 meals a day, so even if I don't eat
anything til hours after I get up, I'd probably consider that lunch [and
not breakfast, which I associate with eating something early in the
day].
