To sum up:

The object is "mineral" that would be considered by most to be comprised of
a single substance. It is artificial, with no moving parts. It is not a work
of art, it is not the only well-known one of these in the world. It is not
a household object, nor is it a material used to make other objects. It
doesn't usually exist in or interact with a body of water, and it is not
consumed by normal use.

While it could be and probably often is in a house, it's not something common
enough that it would be normal to assume there is one in someone's house.
