good luck!

:) I hadn't even thought of that! I'm not sure I should count that one, in
good humor. No, it's not a gopher...

#15 of 24 by mijk on Tue Feb 6 12:58:08 2018:

papa: you had a good question, it just made me laugh: i wasn't expecting
anything like that. :)

#16 of 24 by papa on Tue Feb 6 16:24:08 2018:

Q8: Is the species domesticated?

#17 of 24 by tfurrows on Tue Feb 6 16:48:54 2018:

A8: No.
Also, time for a hint! This bird is primarmily found in South Africa, and
doesn't range beyond the southern part of the African continent. It has a
small tie to the year 1776, unlike the Bald Eagle, which became the national
bird of the U.S. in 1782.
(and by A8:No. I mean that they're not sold as pets or normally kept as pets;
like many animals, they *can* be domesticated, but it's not common.)

I think you were too generous with your hint there, or i was cheating for
googling that ( "South Africa 1776 bird" ). Is it within the rules to google
a hint?

#19 of 24 by tfurrows on Tue Feb 6 19:19:04 2018:

I think "anything goes" for the rules, but I don't know for sure. Papa is the
official rule maker :)
... so I'd say, guess away!

#20 of 24 by papa on Tue Feb 6 19:54:58 2018:

I think it's OK to use Google.

#21 of 24 by mijk on Wed Feb 7 20:52:20 2018:

Q9: OK, here goes: is it a Cape sparrow ?

#22 of 24 by tfurrows on Wed Feb 7 21:09:37 2018:

Bing bing bing! Yes, it is the Cape Sparrow! A small, common bird in South
America, not-at-all-endangered, and often considered a pest. I chose the Cape
Sparrow to highlight a feature of Gopherpedia. Like it's www cousin,
Gopherpedia's starting page has a list of "Featured Content" for the casual
visitor to consume, on a range of topics, with something new each day. If ever
you're looking for something to read, you can perhaps learn something new just
by visiting Gopherpedia. Or, if it's your turn to pick an item for 20Q and
you don't know what to choose, you too can visit Gopherpedia for some instant
inspiration!

\o/ What a lucky guess :)
And another very interesting subject. I might indeed consult gopherpedia for
inspiration too.
Thanks tfurrows for a great round of 20Q!

Congratulations, mijk! I think 9 questions is a new record.
