What about some of last year's items that we auctioned off , and people won
but haven't bothered paying Grex for yet? I'm certainly not sending dm my
elder version of Dark Sun that he won UNTIL he pays grex the 6 bucks hje owes
as I have not received confirmation of his donation.

I got burned in the M-Net Auction. Paid twenty five bucks and never got the
item. Sent mail repeatedly to the M-Net staffer who had the item and got
snippy replies. The item isn't even worth $25 but it's the principle o fthe
thing.

I know where you're coming from. ;-)

Creole, please send me e-mail on M-Net about this.

The auctioneers and I have agreed, this time around, to make a concerted
effort to ensure that things paid for in the Grex auction are actually
delivered.

now if it was a hurdy-gurdy

#11 of 89 by bjorn on Wed May 21 00:00:56 1997:

Okay, why not. I'll have a re-vamped description in about two weeks.

#12 of 89 by mary on Wed May 21 14:09:17 1997:

So where and when do I make a bid for one of the chocolate-chip
pumpkin breads?

And this probably isn't nice to do but I'd like to suggest
something that could be auctioned. I'd be interested in
joining a walking tour of Ann Arbor's Old West Side with
a Historic Presevationist who would just ramble on about
architectural styles, original owners, renovation how-to's,
and anything else he'd like to share. Set a group size
and let that number of the highest bidders win.

I wonder who could lead such a thing? ;-)

I've linked this item to the intro conference.

I'll donate an Apple IIc Plus, with keyboard and 3 1/2" disk drive (it's all
in one box.) I don't have the monitor or the wires, but I can arrange for
the monitor at least, I think... I'm not sure if it's in working order, but
I'll try and test it out before then.

#16 of 89 by jshafer on Thu May 22 02:13:40 1997:

Hmm. I might be able to donate a gift certificate for a one night stay
at the Lakeside Inn in Lakeside. It's off of exit 6 on I94. Would anyone
be willing to drive that far? (Sorry, I can't deliver! ;) The regular room
rate is around $100; even though I can get a discount on it it would still
need to be worth it to grex for me to shell out the buck for this!

What do you think?

(visit http://www.harborcountryguide.com/lakeside/lakeside.html
for more info)

#17 of 89 by senna on Thu May 22 02:23:00 1997:

Which Lakeside are we talking about?

#18 of 89 by tsty on Thu May 22 02:35:04 1997:

donate 2 items - photograph-on-something (t-shirt, ceramic mug, mouse pad,
pillow case, boxer shorts.... whatever)

your photograph (or disk/graphic image) [not any grex-store items] printed
on the surface of your choice.

re #17: Although that's a bit south of my native haunts I'd assume
(judging from "Harbor Country" and exit 6 on I-94 that Lake Michigan
would be the lake in question..)

#20 of 89 by qt314 on Thu May 22 04:09:58 1997:

I will donate:
                1) homemade whiskey cake
                2) A homemade apple crumb pie

Please, live in the Ann Arbor area. These can not be sent, but can, if close,
be delivered.

#21 of 89 by aruba on Thu May 22 05:11:15 1997:

Last year's whiskey cake was delicious.

#22 of 89 by qt314 on Thu May 22 11:20:57 1997:

*smile* Thanks Mark. (I will make you one "under the table" for that) =)

        1. a crochet (made my me) table runner (i can give dimentins and a
description when i finish it soon!)
        2. CHEESECAKE (new jersey style) (either plain, or chocolate/amaretto)
        3. Apple sauce cake...

#25 of 89 by aruba on Thu May 22 18:41:15 1997:

Re #23: Yes, frieda and I both got a whiskey cake. I donated mine to the
Grex birthday picnic, but it was so good I almost regret it. :)

Re #24: What's a table runner?

#26 of 89 by blh on Thu May 22 19:49:31 1997:

kind of like a road runner, but not as active, but gets dirtier.

#27 of 89 by rcurl on Thu May 22 20:01:36 1997:

(Only the couth know table runners....)

#30 of 89 by nt on Fri May 23 01:48:35 1997:

is whiskey cake make of whiskey? kinda curious....

#31 of 89 by janc on Fri May 23 02:23:09 1997:

We have an anonymous donation of a matched set of porcelain drunkmen.
Since these have to be seen to be believed, I've set up a web page with
photos and a description.

I'll see if I can find something that Strategic Computer Solutions
can donate. Hmmm. How about some brand new DC600A tapes...?
Or Intel 486Dx-33 CPUs? {not exactly cutting edge technology, but
still somewhat valuable.}

#33 of 89 by senna on Fri May 23 16:07:18 1997:

The Lakeside my family is familiar with is in Ohio, on Lake Erie, across a
bay from Cedar Point. It might help to make that clear.

Cheesecake? Cheesecake? Where?

Very funny page, Jan.

#36 of 89 by senna on Fri May 23 21:51:47 1997:

Okay, possible donation of a lawn mowing, if I can clear the operation with
my dad (this would theoretically involve transporting my own equipment, since
I can work well with it). Scale can be from typical suburban half acre to
country five acre or so plot... I'm not sure about practicality in sizes other
than those extremes.

#37 of 89 by blh on Sat May 24 00:48:01 1997:

I guess here is the place to offer rototilling, if it is not a big
space because the machine is very small.

#38 of 89 by orinoco on Sat May 24 01:40:10 1997:

Ooo...I can't resist.
One genuine silly hat, the money earned to be placed in the silly hat fund.

#39 of 89 by rcurl on Sat May 24 03:48:06 1997:

IGHITP to say that the rototilling we need is *heavy duty*, for a small
garden, to grind up all the old roots, new weeks, and clods.
