Grex Internet Item 67: Celebrities on the internet!
Entered by take6 on Wed Aug 17 02:50:36 UTC 1994:

OK, here's an item I hope we can have some fun with. I hope people start
adding to this so we can have a nice fat list of celebrities to tell all
our friends who don't have internet access that we talk to so-and-so
regularly. I'll start the ball rolling with the only two I know...

Amy Grant <amy.grant@nashville.com>
Mike Thacher (of the group Rockapella) <mthacher@aol.com>

Amy doesn't always check her e-mail herself; sometimes her fan club
president checks it -- her name is Lori McAlister. But I'm told the
mail DOES get to her. Mike checks his mail frequently and is a regular
contributor to the rec.music.a-cappella newsgroup.

Adam Curry (formerly of MTV) adam@metaverse.com
Dave Barry is on the net, but prefers not to have his email passed
around too freely.

Of course, we don't talk to these people regularly. I would assume
most anyone of note who has an email account gets too many letters
from dweebs who think it's "cool to be able to tell my friends I sent
a letter to so-and-so" (or a talk request, or whatever) that someone
else handles the mail. I mean, dughof@cogsci.indiana.edu doesn't read
his own mail, and doesn't even really know how all that well. I mean,
nobody gets all excited about which celebrities have phone numbers, and
most of them don't like having theirs passed around.

For myself, since those "celebrities" have no interest in writing to me,
I have no interest in writing to them. I like mutual communication.

J. Michael Stracynski, creator and executive producer (and often
writer) of _Babylon_5_. stracynski@genie.com (or whatever Genie's
domain is.)

Suzanne Vega has an account on AOL, but I don't remember her handle.
She was contributing to the Undertow mailing list for a while, that
was quite a trip!

Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Go's used to have an AOL address, but it got
publicized, and overloaded so she dropped it. (She still has one there,
