Grex Internet Item 46: Traceroute?
Entered by jep on Sat Apr 30 04:49:09 UTC 1994:

On M-Net and MSEN, there is a program called "traceroute" which
allows a user to trace the route taken by packets from the site you are on
to a destination site. Is there an equivalent command on Grex? I tried
"query", but it's not available to me here, either.

traceroute is not available on Grex.
One reason for this is that it puts a lot of demands on the link.
I am not familiar with any of the details, though.
You could probably get more specific info by mailing staff.
I am not sure how many of them read this conference.

Were people bombarding Grex with traceroutes or something? It
usually only runs for a few seconds...
I did find the program; it's in /usr/local/etc, disabled for the
unwashed masses. I thought I could use it to help me solve some problems
we have had on M-Net.
Your answer is enough, Steve; thanks!
