IPRemoteAT is an IP client for connection to an AppleTalk network. One has the client running on one's Mac, and the AppleTalk Remote Network Server (ARNS) running on a unix Internet host, and the client can connect and join the AppleTalk net from anywhere with Internet access. This item is for discussing or inquiring about IPRemoteAT and ARNS. (Is there a PC platform equivalent to the Mac's AppleTalk, which is a "built in"?)

There is currently an ARNS running as a beta-test on the UM backbone, and I have used it to print to laserwriters from home, and to transfer files between my office Mac, or network servers, and home. However, I do not know where there are other ARNSes, for access to AppleTalk networks elsewhere. This method of file transfer is probably less efficient than ftp, but has the advantage of a marvelously friendly interface (the Mac Desktop).
