Grex Internet Item 157: How do I get the IP-adress of a site?
Entered by masau on Mon Sep 24 12:44:31 UTC 2001:

A very simple question, not? I just would like to know how or where I
can see the IP-adress of site. When I'm for example surfing to
www.yahoo.com, is there a possibility to view the adress?

The explanation depends on your operating system.
Windows 9x I suggest downloading samspade.org and using the nslookup feature
windows 2000/nt have nslookup so just open a command prompt and type
nslookup www.yahoo.com
Linux open a command prompt and type host www.yahoo.com

it is possible to find the ip address of a site .
give ping site name or u can use route command.
to get ip address of incoming packets (it contains the ip
of the server site),use any packet analyser(sniffers), u can easily get
the ip address by verifying the recorded items.most of the operating system
has the option to this.
u can use nslookup command.
