The more I think about it, it seems as if the the internet will keep on growing, yes, but will end up in a junk yard somewhere someday... personally i love the internet.. no arugument there, but the internet being a network of networks and people sending and recieving information there isn't much more to the internet now is there? but information can be all sorts of stuff and this is what keeps the internet alive and that is why the internet community is growing by the minute. Do you really belive that the scientists who built arpanet thought of the internet ? I mean did it occur to them that from arpanet something called the internet would be born? A vast network of computers that spreads out all throughout the world and maybe the universe.. who knows. We could continue building more and more computers to contribute to the growing users of the net.. we could.. spend all of our money and time to come out with faster and better computers and processors all for what? it all comes down to the internet does it not? and in speaking of the internet we have the common netizens to the evil comptuer hackers and spies. They are there to ruin the average netizen's life while others are there just to explore.. and to have fun.. the internet is great and all, but i think it has taken away too much time from life. Scientists indeed are working on new inventions to make life a better place to live in, but most of them are working on ways to make new computers for the internet. think about the number of computer users who spend there time online doing nothing! you can check your email, chat with other users who probably aren't people at all, check the news and weather.. stock quotes, play online games.. yahoo is great for that.. and a whole bunch of other stuff.. besides that there isn't much you can really say about the internet. i want to know the real reason why the internet is so great.. i have never heard a good reason to why this is so.. wow you can send your email faster, get information quicker, play games for endless hours against users across the globe, etc.. what more is there? information warfare has been around before the invention of the first computer. it is all about information, but in truth most of the information you find online is all bull. also what is with all the porn on the net. yeah its great.. sure it is. but without all that crap the internet would be so much better. hello again.. i would like to say by writing this i am not saying in any way that the internet is useless or dumb.. i love the net. who doesn't i just want a reason to why the net is so great, besides the obvious! thank you very much and have a very nice day.

Guilty! I spend at least 2 hours per day just doing "utility" things. Checking e-mail, writing it, doing Grex. I should have used the time better, but I have no regrets.
The company I work for packages data and sells it to other companies. It will be much cheaper and faster for us to deliver that data by Internet. We've been delivering some by modem which is especially expensive for internatoinal customers. When we have packages that are too big for modem, we send a tape via FedEx. Thie Internet will lower our cost of doing business.
And if it weren't for the Internet, I wouldn't have a job. I work
doing system administration work at an ISP. It's an interesting (and
good) experience running a BSDI box on a computer network with millions of
other computers on it.
The nice thing about the Internet is the ability to reach people.
For example, our school news show is done by BLS Productions (a small
video production group me and some friends are in) and we have our own
webpage for free. We're going to advertise it all over our news show once
we get it going this next year. The Internet can also be used to reach
millions of people. Most businesses are on it now.
I've been an Internet user for a few years now. Started probably
about 4 or 5 years ago on VMS shells and then I got my first PPP
connection about 3 years ago. Grex is one of the best places I've found
to hang out on here.
