When I logged in this morning I received two messages in this order: /tmp/ts.14707: I/O error /tmp/ts.14707: No such file or directory When I tried to modify files I got more messages, here are the attempts and messages: Attempt Message vi filterlog /tmp/Ex14739 I/O error vi filter-rules /tmp/Ex14743 I/O error vi filter-rules /tmp/Ex14754 I/O error vi .plan /tmp/Ex14755 I/O error What's going on here, is the editor messed up, or Grex itself? I deleted all filter files, since it's useless to have a file you can't modify. What can I do?

I don't know what's going on either, but I had the same trouble. My termcap was disabled (which I suspect explains your i/o errors while you were trying to invoke VI. Now I'm getting some sort of error as I'm typing in this response, about a file that can't be created. It happens at the end of each line. This is quite puzzling.
Also almost all the items seem to have been erased from our usenet feed.
I talked to Steve Andre earlier this afternoon. The problem that Vidar and I were having, and the lack of news are two different things. The second is due to some configuration thing that needs to be fixed. The first is (apparently) because the news eagle's disk controller went wonky on us and made Grex think some part of the hard drives was write-protected. It appears to be fixed now.
That's good. Norske power!
Eh?
I said "Norske Power", it has nothing to do with anything. It is simply an exclamation of excitement, got it? Goog!
