Entered by raven on Sat Jun 12 03:50:27 UTC 1993:

I'm interested in encrypting my e-mail messages. Does anyone have pgp or
some such program that I could do that with? Also how do I go about
encrypting my mail once I have the program? Thanx : )

First of all, What Machine do you want to run PGP on ?
I have it for the Amiga. it that is what you have.

This is what pgp -h gives :

To encrypt a plaintext file with the recipient's public key:
     pgp -e textfile her_userid

No <sigh> I have a Mac. Is it possible to run PGP from Grex? Or do I have
to download to my machine?

Don't forget to use the -a option if you want to send the resulting
file through e-mail.

There may be a way to install PGP here, but it is not a good idea.

In order to have security, your messages must be encrypted whenever
they travel over insecure networks. As soon as the phone wire leaves
your property, it is insecure.

You should get Mac PGP from MIT. There is an item discussing PGP in the
software conference (join jellyware). I use PGP on my Mac at home.
It is not very awkward to encrypt and then upload the message to
the mailer. Admittedly it would be more convenient if the mailer did
some of the work, but that would required being packet connected and
running the mailer on your Mac.
