Grex Info Item 43: Need help learning to GREX? README [linked]
Entered by mta on Sat Jun 5 21:52:52 UTC 1993:

A brief "pocket guide" of GREX commands and functions is now available
by mail. Just send a SASE to:

                        GREX Publicity
                        2059 Harding Avenue
                        Ypsilanti, Michigan 48197-4416

                        Attn: Pocket Guide

Shortly we plan to have a somewhat more comprehensive GREX Handbook
available at cost. Watch this space for details!

Happy Grexing!

Kool Bizz - think I'll get a copy

I bought a book called "Unix for dummies" which pretty much is a guide
to what grex is doing. However, there is no such book entitled "picospan
for dummies".
The unix book is rather well written and I am now just starting to feel
comfy with DOS and UNIX, which they call "the least intuitive OS in the
 world"

Jim, I like to think that the GREX Handbook is a little like a Picospan
for Dummies. It looks as though UniCom may adopt large parts of it for
distribution to new sites.

<shameless preening here>

;)

Then good job, Misti! Sounds like the preening is justified.

Is this pocket guide still available?

Misti, bring a pile to the next grex board meeting, and let everyone
know that if they come, they don't have to learn what an SASE is!
(man SASE didn't help)

Officially they are *still* scheduled for the second Tuesday at 7PM.
That is because we did not select an alternative time last month
when it didn't work out.
I am not going to be able to make that time at all on 4/12, so
we'll probably reschedule it again in April. By the time May comes along,
my tuesdays will be open again.

Drift is really bad for an info conference. The introduction item in
the old info conference was 400+ responses long. I just finished reading
it, and it's length discouraged me from reading the rest of the conference
for quite awhile. If you don't like answering the same questions over and
over and over and over and over (etc.) again, you want to have an info
conference that is easy to navigate with *no* drift.

<set drift=*off*>

Hiya! I am new to Grex/Unix World, and I was wondering if anyone knows how
to set my account to default, please? Much appreciated. Mike.

Sorry but you'l have to explan what you mean by "set my account to default".

I see that you've customized your .login a bit from the default
settings but I don't see anything in what you have done that would
break anything.

I will point out that explicitly adding /usr/bin/gcc to the search
path won't do what you probably want it to do. The csh path variable
is supposed to contain a list of directories where the system will
look for executables.

However, in your case, csh will find gcc anyways because /usr/bin
has also been added to the path.
