Grex has been having net access problems for a couple weeks. It is apparently not Grex equipment that causes the problem, but somewhere further away. For example I can dial in and find Grex functioning even when I cannot telnet or ssh in from another server. Your problem is the reverse, but seems related.
Right. Same problem -- network connection is down -- but a person who dials in would see it as an inability to connect to anything else *from* Grex rather than an inability to connect *to* Grex. Staff is working on the problem; not sure how close the solution is.
In the agora "grex problems" item is was reported that the DSL modem had been "kicked", thereby restoring net connectivity.
Well, it's apparently out again.
If you "join agora" you will be reading the conference on Grex that usually has system problems information posted.
This is the conference that is advertised as having system information.
The "help conferences" command says that it's for "information about Picospan and Unix", which is a little vague, but I think that the intent is that it's for information about how to use the system more than current system status. In any case, it might not be a bad idea to link the Agora "system problems" item here.
remmers, there is no fw right now. would you be it?
Actually, bhoward is the current fw.
ah, ok, then I'll email him to attach the sysproblems item here.
