Tell it what to do, and it will do it.
How do you get a shell on here???
Enter !change at an Ok: prompt. What you want to choose depends on what you know about unix systems. If nothing, try menu. If much more, try (say) csh (or, I wouldn't have to make a suggestion...).
If you're telnetted in (not in via the web), you can get to a shell just by entering "!" (without the quotes, followed by enter) at the Ok: prompt (or the Respond-or-pass? prompt, for that matter). In kinder's case, I think the shell will be the Bourne shell. Rane's instructions assume that you want to change so that you come up in a different shell when you log in, and also assume that you're not reading via the web.
I have just signed in ... I am new user ... How do i get started ?
Depends on what you want to do. To get to a shell prompt, from the Ok: prompt, enter "!" (without the quotes). (To exit from the resulting shell, use "exit".) What commands you want to run will depend on what you want to do.
What are the differences (ad/dis-vantages, functionality, etc) between using ! and exit, vs using ^z and fg (and the same for other similar options)?
Well, the Bourne shell does not support job control, so if that's your underlying shell you can't suspend. For some people that makes suspending have a big disadvantage indeed.
