If this is a one-time or infrequent kind of thing, you can go thru the pain
of: 1) Uuencode your binary file(s) (.gif, .jpg, whatever). 2) Transfer
the uuencoded file(s) to grex. 3) If too big for e-mail, split apart
using an editor or figuring out uuencode's advanced options. (2) & 3) can
be reversed, if necessary) 4) Attach/imbed uploaded uuencoded file(s) in
one or more e-mail messages to your friend. Your friend at the receiving
end will have to reverse this process.

I don't know if grex allows anonymous ftp. If so, that would be a way to
go: Transfer the file(s) - binary or uuencoded to grex - and then have
your friend ftp to grex and transfer the files.

An even more elaborate scheme would be to make the files available via a
web page...

I'd much rather have people e-mail the occasional picture than
try putting it on their Web page.

That would never work. See, binary files have this annoying
tendancy to get cut and become unreadable -- something about having 8
bit characters when many MUAs only suport 7 bit chars. In order to
change that 8 bit thing to 7 bits, try printing out the picture,
cutting off a 7th of it, then, after liberally soaking it in water (so
you compuer can understand it), placing it into your diskdrive. If
that doesn't work, try opening your computer and pulling out the
chips; and cutting off the last pin of each; it's very messay to have
8 bits. if your chips have more than 7 pins, just cut off all the
extra pins, the manufacturers just put them on toe jack up the price
of chips anyway.

Oh, and after you've replaced your computer, try doing a "man
uuencode" or grex, or !man uuencode if you are in the bbs. You'll
also need to use rz (recieve zmodem) if sending from a pc.
        Other posibilities:
Give your friend your password. Nobody uses those
things anyway .
Get your friend to give you her password. This should
be impossible, but be insistent and eventually she'll cave in.
(using the above two, you'll need a registered account
and ftp) Or she can use ftp on your account.
Give up and send the file through the real, postal
mail on a disk. This is iritating, but usually not beyond the
abilities of most.
Give your friend a modem call. Send the file with zmodem.
Print the pictures out and send them in an envelope.
Especially good if you have a black+white dot matrix.
Go to your friend and GIVE her a copy of the file.
make sure you've sent it to yourself in mail first.

Grex's link may complicate things, but with a link of reasonable speed
e-mailing pictures is pretty easy. Most mailers these days support MIME
encoding, so assuming the person on the other end is using something that
supports that you can just send it as a MIME attachment. It's incredibly
simple.
