I mentioned this problem in teest, but am repeating it here.  Not a problem
so much as a puzlement...why can't you pipe "respond" at a respond or pass
prompt through stuff?

I've often wished I could pipe other Picospan commands through things, but
not piping respond through something.  What would you use that for?

It would be a shortcut for things that you currently have to
do by entering a response in a file, running the file through
a filter into another file, and then reading the second file
into the response. Like entering figletized responses, for
example.

Probably Marcus didn't put the feature in because he figured
it wouldn't be used enough to be worth the trouble, and that
in most cases people would want to inspect the results of the
filtering before entering it, which would be hard to do with
piping.
