Since I have been in Ann Arbor this week, I have been using my sister's boyfriend's computer to Grex. While I can call up and log onto grex from his Terminal program fine, the computer refuses to hang up the phone. I realize that this may be a phone line related problem, not a computer oriented one, but I figure that I should ask about it, in case my sister's boyfriend decides to become a grexer and has to actually hang up the phone-phone a few times before he can use the line normally. Thank you for your prompt attention.

If you type "exit" or "hangup" at the login: prompt, Grex should hang up the phone for you.
Conceivably that may not help with the problem Bjorn is seeing. In a previous incarnation my modem refused to go on-hook **even when the computer was powered down** (internal modem). This prevented any phone in the house from being used until I physically unplugged the modem from the phone jack. Bleah. Bjorn, first try what Rob said; I hope that your problem is that one, as it's much simpler. But if it's the one I saw, my solution was to return the modem (fortunately just barely under warranty); however, I asked here about it (in, I think, the hardware cf) & got tentative diagnoses & advice. It sounded maybe fixable for those more technically adept than I. This was a while ago now.
Well, the problem seems to have repaired itself. Though I must admit that 'twould behoove me to have copied the presice configuration that I am currently using on my own program before I even came down to Ann Arbor. As I am using someone else's computer, some solutions are not within my calling.
