Grex Info Item 264: Name-Changing
Entered by coyote on Sat Oct 28 20:59:46 UTC 1995:

I want to change my name, but GREX won't let me! I've done the !change thing,
chosen change full name, and put in what I want my new name to be, but my name
is staying the same. I've evan gone back there and tried changing it again:
when I tried changing it again, it said that my current name was what I wanted
my name to be, but when I post things in a conference I keep this name. I'm
getting frusterated. Any help?

Sure. You've changed it (or I presume so) in /etc/password, but not in
your conference files. To do that, inside each conference where you
want a new name, enter set name (or change name). It will
tell you who you are & prompt you for a change.

In the mean time, any *new* conferences you join will think you are
The Lovable Blue Coyote, unless you change something, but *we* all know
better, right?

(Along those lines: resigning and rejoining all your conferences would
also work - but you'd lose all record of what items you'd read; pretty
drastic.)

davel--you could just resign, rejoin, and use "fixseen" upon rejoining

Sure. It's still pretty drastic; it assumes either that you've read
everything, forgotten nothing, etc., or that you want to take the time
to pick & choose what to do a fixseen on. I included it only because
to some people the resign command is new & obscure, & it's worth knowing.
