Grex Info Item 226: Windows terminal mode
Entered by mcpoz on Sat Apr 8 22:28:54 UTC 1995:

I don't know if this is the right conference to talk about this, but
I just switched to the "terminal" program within Windows and everything
seems easier and faster than in the BitCom software which was supplied
with my modem.

7 responses total.

The problem with less than 80 columns wasn't noticed by me, probably because
all the conference lingo is "entered" before the end due to lack of line-
wrap. I checked it out and yes, it falls short. You can configure the
font, but the next smaller font is too small to read easily.

I have had trouble with its vt100 emulation also. Perhaps you may notice
if you use it with lynx, or full-screen editors. It's usable, but far
from ideal.

I had used it, but not noticed. Then again, I am just learning and I think
everything that goes wrong is from my error. What did you experience with
the VT100 emulation? (Thanks)

As I recall I had trouble under lynx, when it would go to repaint
it would not clear the screen properly, which left a bit of a mess.
It seemed to leave some highlighted words from previous screens, which got
confusing on occasion. It's been a while, though.

It did that to me on a few occasions, as well. Why did this happen?

Bad vt100 emulation. I never get that problem running a good one, like
Kermit. (I run MacKermit.)
