I need some help here with RPG, I want to change the login however for the temporary I have a dumb terminal and can't get it to show the screen and let me edit it. I am the FW by the way.

Is your terminal really dumb, or is it just your terminal emulation here?

okey
Somewhere in this conference are instructions on using bbsed, a line-based editor which even dumb terminals can handle. It's pretty barebones, but much safer for the novice than something like ed.
I tried bbsed and never could figure out how to use it.

If you're going to use a line-oriented editor, there is only one rational choice: ed. 8-/
If you say "help editor" in PicoSpan, you'll get a brief introduction to "ed", although the directions would work just as well for "ex" and "es" (all 3 editors share the same fundemental notions and compatible commands.) Of the 3, "ed" is the most primitive, with only about 3 unhelpful error messages, no prompts, and the most primitive command set. Ex is considerably smarter, supports a visual mode (actually ex and vi are one and the same program), and helpful error messages; but ex doesn't provide any online help. Es is generally not quite as smart, does not provide a visual mode, but does provide useful error messages and prompts, and includes online help, although the online text is a bit sketchy in places.
