Grex Info Item 202: Mail, Finger, and usenet questions.
Entered by peacefrg on Fri Jan 27 02:43:41 UTC 1995:

Is there a way to view and respond to my mail here from another freenet?
I have another internet provider that runs at 28.baud and it would
be faster to read and respond from there. Also, why doesn't grex have
internet wide finger? Or am I just doing it wrong.

!finger jedel@sunny.ncmc.cc.mi.us?

And, how do I post to usenet news through e-mail?
I tried an address that I got off of an earlier info posting
but it didn't work.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

It's not uncommon for hosts to run without finger daemon.
Finger requests to that host will be rejected in that case.

For Usenet posting by mail, send it to

        group.name.usenet@decwrl.dec.com

For instance, my last post was mailed to:

        alt.tv.x-files.usenet@decwrl.dec.com

It took a few dyas to show up at the U of M Engineering
public server.

I suppose that someone should point out here just for the benefit of
newer users, that when the new internet access policy gets implemented
then internet-wide finger will be available to all. It is just a
question of staff time right now.
