Grex Info Item 196: Specifying parameters when telnetting.
Entered by chi1taxi on Sat Dec 31 00:56:48 UTC 1994:

Specifying parameters when telnetting.
Does anyone know how to specify different settings than we use on Grex while
telnetting to another bbs? They are 8 bits no parity, I believe.
Thanks-

I'm not sure what you mean. telnet connections are inherently
8-bit, though no control-character-clean (telnet steals 0xFF for
an in-band escape). There is no way to make your connection to Grex
be 8N1 while you're in telnet and 7E1 elsewhere, if that's what
you mean. Actually, I thought some people actually were successfully
connecting to Grex at 8N1...are any of them here?

re #2, does that help the parity problems with pico?

I use 8N1 on all connections to Grex, via dialin or link. I originally
went to it to use xmodem, but never changed back.

I use 8N1 with the eighth bit stripped. That is the only way PICO does
work for me.
