Welcome to the Info conference.  You are reading item 1.  It is the first of
a large number of items.  Here are some tips for finding info in the info
conference.  Say you are looking for information about the "pine" program:

1) To search only the list of item titles for a topic, type:
         browse "pine"
(the quotation marks are required).

2) To look for the word "pine" in all the text (all responses) of all items:
         find "pine"
(it can take a while -- press your interrupt key, usually ^C to stop early).

3) You can use a multi-word phrase.  For example, to look for the words
"1200 baud modem" through all the text of items 20 through 40, type:
        find "1200 baud modem" 20-40


You can't respond to this Item because it is "frozen" to keep it short.
If you have a question, use the "browse", "find", and "read" commands to
look for Items related to your question.  If you don't find a related Item,
you can use the "enter" command to create a new Item to discuss your question.

Some pointers, to help future people who use the Info conference:
 * When you enter an Item, choose a descriptive title (eg. "Looking for
   kermit help" rather than "Confused user needs help!").

 * Before using "enter", use "browse" and "find" to make sure there isn't
   already another Item for your topic.  If there is a related Item, 
   read and respond to it instead of entering a new one.

 * If the discussion in an Item has drifted away from its original topic,
   and you have something to say about the original topic, feel free to
   bring the original topic back again.
