So what are all you inbetweeners listening to in terms of music these days?
Is it called alternative? Or is it punk now? Who cares? What bands/music
are you listening to?
Lately, I've been listening to a lot of japanese bands, the Boredoms,
Merzbow, CCCC, Incapacitants, the Ruins, real strange stuff. I've also been
getting a lot into the Bassholes, a blues band from ohio, and I've been list-
ening to a lot of motown, and Tom Waits...
*and if you promise not to tell anyone...I have a Guy Lombardo record I listen
to a lot*
So what are you listening to?
55 responses total.
yeah!!! the first! well, i'm kinda odd. pink floyd, rush, crowded house, duke ellington, rusian classical music, billie holliday, collective soul, and other really great stufg
of late, I've been listening to: ICP, Stereo MCs, Suzanne Vega, Isis, X-Clan, Soho, Public Enemy, The Cure, St. Etienne, NWA, The DOC, George Michael, L7, Nirvana, and Type O Negative. That's limiting myself to counting albums/singles I've listened to in the past two weeks. I've also been listening to mix tapes I made 2-3 years ago. Oh, yeah. I guess I'm also listening to Eazy-E and 3rd Bass.
Of late I've been listening to an Australian band called "Air Supply." They h ave a different style.
lately... mostly junk read: i've had mtv on
I generally listen to whatever WIQB is playing. I buy CDs occasionally, but not too often.
I listen to whatever's on the radio <mix station>, whatever my roommate is playing <which can get kinda scary--she's generally FAR too cheeerful> or whatever CD I happened to lleave last in the player. Or I llisten to my revenge ;)
Frank Pahl, Only a Mother, Tracy Lee Komarmy, Dick Siegel, Malcolm Tulip, Whitley Setrakian and Sherri Kane, Mr. B and whatever is on 89X.
is it the same air supply from the 80's? if so, good stuff! i love 80's music!!!! other: have you listened to madcat and kane? (or is madcat setrakian?) good stuff....saw a concert of theirs last summer.
Malcolm Tulip does music?!?
Peter "Madcat" Ruth is Sherri Kane's usual musical partner, and I have not heard them perform. Malcolm Tulip may not have any musical recordings out, but he did sing at Raise the Roof: a beautiful little ditty which goes, "If you're feeling glum, stick a finger up your bum, and the world's a hap hap happier place..." We watched the video of the show just before i entered that response.
wow. I admit to being mostly familiar with Mr. Tulip's directing, via Community High School.
He's amazing! Ask him sometime about "Eine Soiree en la Metamortue de Enrique Miasmo." (An Evening in the Death of Enrique Miasmo) It's not an actual translation, as the title is truly nonsensical, and supposed to sound like it *might* make sense.
I have also been mastering lots of lab lob otomy tapes lately, which is my band, so I'm really tired of us.
Excuse me for living, but I like NIN an 89.1 And once in awhile, maybe 89x and WIQB Oh, and can't ferget WCBN, which I probably listen to the most
i listen to all of those but cbn....but the rest are good...including nin!
See, he's saying excuse me for living because I have a real problem with NIN. But that's just a problem I'm gonna have to deal with.
I'm listenting to Blue Vinyl's "9:03" CD right now. Good stuff.
Oh no...not blue vinyl. Don't get me started on that.
how about pink floyd? <cheers are heard from the direction of Illinois>
gimmee 80's stuff anyday....:)
i like pink floyd. Lab Lob Otomy just did a promo shot. A parody of the Blue Vinyl promo shot. Hahahahahahah...we are funnier than heck.,
Parodying Blue Vinyl? Maybe those guys are making it big.
No, we just make fun of anything that moves.
Well I've listened to just about every type of music under the sun and loved it all.... Music is. Thats all, and if you look at all the top 10s for '94 you'll prbably find the biggest diversity you've ever seen. From punks (Greenday, and I'm not inviting argument) to monk (yeah remeber CHANT) to anyone....
Cool...
for my self I REALLY enjoy country, I know must of you think it sucks but I really ..connect with it it is mostly real poeople who are living a live that is real, not some one bitching about the fact they should die cause liffe sucks or all that shit.. they dont have blue, purple or green hair they are just REAL but I also like some of the top 40 stuff. Sona DaDA, Shaggy, soul asylum ... don't hate me cause I like country.... plus I ,at one time , hated it that nasle twange thing drove me crazy!!1 but now i dont even hear it.. spyder
lately, I've been doing semi-heavy rock and *lots* of incredibly sappy love songs :) Am I the only one who loves the song "No One Is to Blame"?
i have loved that song ever since it came out, but i have no clue where to find it on an album...which is why i'm taping it when i get down there. :)
isn't that a Wang Chung song? is that the actual title?
The one we're talkinga bout is by HOward Jones, and my roommate has it, I'm not sure if she has the original but I could probably find out where she got it from...
My favorite album is Haunted Hill, by the Bassholes. The blues are great.
I'm your basic Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd, Rush, Tori Amos, Beethoven, Blues Traveler, Eric Clapton, Live, Phish, Tom Petty kinda guy..
Tonight's list for Other: Artist/Band CD Frank Allison and the Odd Sox Pig Out Dead can Dance Into the Labyrinth The Limeliters Harmony Hill of Beans Hill of Beans The Moody Blues To our Children's, Children's, Children Phil Ochs There But for Fortune Leonard Cohen Best of Leonard Cohen Warren Zevon A Quiet Normal Life
Ummm, classical? <flem runs and hides behind a cello>
I listen to all sorts of weird stuff... some English, some French, some Cantonese, I basically find stuff I like and dub it onto a tape for me.
i love doing that!!!! but it drives my boss buggy to listen to my tape that had meatloaf followed by billie holliday! :)
You should see the weird looks I get from people walking by in the hallways :) it's kinda fun to pretend to be even weirder than you really are sometimes... although my friends tell me I'm weird enough that it's not necessary.
<esk oins flem behind the cello> <esk momentarily comes out and gets a ten gallon hat, waves hi to spyder, and then leaves the room to go get her Sawyer Brown CD> <esk has returned with her favorite CD's of the week: Wantin and Havin it All by Sawyer Brown, Houses of the Holy and yall should know who that's by, and a scratched up "52nd Street" LP>
err, joins flem...
