Wow! That's great!!

#3 of 175 by steve on Mon Oct 5 21:09:32 1998:

Grex had 266 new accounts created yesterday, a new all-time high.
This is the equivelant of the first 75 days of Grex's existence, in
terms of new accounts created. Amazing...

#4 of 175 by senna on Mon Oct 5 22:08:54 1998:

Geez, *I* almost considered making an account. What's the rough average
number of new accounts created daily, and how many are deleted?

#5 of 175 by tpryan on Mon Oct 5 22:17:07 1998:

Yes, It would be interesting to know the number of 'use once'
accounts. Or those used less than a week beyond creation before they
meet the great account reaper.
How do they do it. Itried to get someone thru newuser, and
seemed the equivalant of bambo shoots under the fingernails.

#6 of 175 by steve on Tue Oct 6 00:24:05 1998:

I just created a new item "questions about Grex" to talk about
this stuff. This is the announcements item.

if anyone is in a rewriting mood --mic-- can we add a simple command to gather
and display the output of the picospan "check" command from a login shell
without actually running picospan?

#9 of 175 by tpryan on Sun Oct 11 14:10:52 1998:

finger richard@cyberspace.org will tell you that without your logging in.
Assuming you have a finger client available wherever you are.

#17 of 175 by tpryan on Wed Oct 14 01:35:17 1998:

But, please don't bot-run it every 30 seconds.

#18 of 175 by steve on Wed Oct 14 12:08:15 1998:

#19 of 175 by senna on Wed Oct 14 18:57:40 1998:

That's, um, impressive.

#20 of 175 by tpryan on Thu Oct 15 00:21:25 1998:

Gee, had we known it was coming up we would have been creating accounts
to get the magic number, just in case we could end up with a new car.

#23 of 175 by remmers on Tue Oct 27 02:34:39 1998:

Nominations are open now through November 15 for the Grex Board of
Directors. See Coop Item 38 (item:coop,38) for details.

#24 of 175 by aruba on Tue Nov 3 19:59:50 1998:

I called Ameritech today and had them drop the last two lines in our trunk
hunt, per the board's vote last Wednesday. Starting Friday we will be
down to 11 dialin lines from 13. This will save Grex approximately
$39/month, and if recent statistics on usage are correct, not create many
busy signals at all. See coop for the full discussion of this issue.

#25 of 175 by mta on Tue Nov 3 22:06:07 1998:

Thanks, Mark.

#26 of 175 by shivi on Wed Nov 4 17:57:57 1998:

#27 of 175 by rcurl on Wed Nov 4 19:46:12 1998:

#28 of 175 by mta on Wed Nov 4 20:58:37 1998:

I got busy signals from 8;20 to 8:30 last night, Sunday eve must be one of
those times when the two extra lines actually got some use.

#37 of 175 by steve on Thu Nov 19 04:14:37 1998:

Grex had a problem in the passwd database weds night; it was
fixed but Grex didn't allow logins from about 22:50 to 23:08
because of this. Apologies to all who waded through the telnet
queue only to find that you couldn't get on.

#38 of 175 by dpc on Thu Nov 19 14:50:55 1998:

That was an awfully fast fix! Nice!

#39 of 175 by gregb on Thu Nov 19 15:17:34 1998:

Re. 37: Any idea on what happened Tuesday morning? Everytime I tried to
telnet in I kept getting refused connections.
