Installed a new version of Backtalk on Grex.  The version number moves from
1.2.10 to 1.2.24, which seems like it ought to get you some noticable changes,
but it's mostly just minor bug fixes.  Even most of the bug fixes are for bugs
that don't manifest here on Grex.  I think there are some small fixes to
abalone, minor improvements to the parsing of dates in "read since" type
commands, and a couple fixes to fronttalk.  Pretty dull, but we are still
on the stable branch.  It's supposed to be dull.

I do abalone, so I appreciate it.

Reminder:  The polls close at the end of the day (EDT), Tuesday, July 1,

IWLTA that I am trimming the party channel list (chantab) to eliminate 
private channels which reference login IDs which do not exist.

This is in part because the chantab file is corrupted and needs fixing 
anyway.

   I finally got to working on the UPS tonight, to install our new
batteries.  The UPS definitely needs them: sitting there with no
load, the unit indicated it was at about 50% capacity, meaning
that the betteries were weak.

   Unfortunately, I wasn't able to do it.  It requires *6* bateries,
not four!  I checked my notes on this: I had four down from my talks
with the people at Leibert.  It seems that the particular model we
have isn't quite what the PDF I have is.  That wasn't too important
in terms of taking the unit apart, but I got a wonderfu; surprise
when I finally got the 837 screws loose and got the Leibert apart.
I'm going to bring my camera along and take pictures of this beast;
it's truely impressive.

   I am going to see if Interstate is open Saturday, but I don't
think they will be.  It sounds like I will have to get the two 
batteries on Monday.  Last time I talked with the Interstate people
they said that the battery I wanted was pretty much a stock item
so it should be in stock.

   Grex is not running on the UPS at the moment.  Given the time it
takes to get the thing opened, and the fact that the batteries are
so weak, I didn't think it made sense to try putting Grex back on
it.

   Sigh.  I'm sorry for this.  I really did think that the unit 
wanted four batteries.

The Grex System is run by users.  We discuss philosophy, theory, and practical
details in the Coop conference.  The old (coop12, over 200 items) has become
new (coop13, 13 items).  Get involved now, while it's young and small.  type
"join coop" at the "Ok:" prompt.

Or, if you're reading this via the Backtalk web interface, use whatever
means the interface provides for joining the Coop conference.

(At this writing I think it has only 2 items, not 13.)
