Welcome to Grex, Reju. It gets easier.

#3 of 120 by krokus on Sat Apr 5 17:38:31 2003:

Tonight is daylight's saving's time in the US. Don't forget to set your
clocks accordingly.

Also remember to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide
detectors.

#4 of 120 by keesan on Sun Apr 6 00:14:16 2003:

And save us your old batteries which probably still work fine. We will send
them in to Kiwanis to test radios with.

I thought I would add this to the Grex specific item, consider it is
regarding cyberspace and free speach-related issues. I ran across an
organization that was formed which is much like the ACLU, but deals
strickly with internet issues. The Electronic Frontier Foundation, at
http://www.eff.org/.I haven't had a chance to really look at the
website, so I thought I'd post it for those interested in reading up on
this group.

(Grex already has a link to the EFF on its homepage. it's the blue ribbon.)

(whatever happened to the "red ribbon" sites, anyway?)

For those that know me, and the fewer that could care, I'm back in town.

Welcome back kotter, er, krokus!

Welcome back Rich

#12 of 120 by omni on Thu Apr 24 20:35:09 2003:

 dittos.....oops wrong show. Yeah, I'm a Limbaughite.

  Welcome back, Rich.

In other news. I have changed callsigns. I was AA8IJ, and now I have
reclaimed my wonderful and beloved N8LIC. The State of Ohio is so happy that
they have issued a plate for the Japanese Beetle. (1 to a customer, and I had
to give them 15 %$%#$$% dollars).

My previous plate has been donated to Sardini's Restaurant for thier
Wall of Weird Ohio Licence plates. I dined there last evening after a long
and bizarre trip to Michigan. I will be dining at Sardini's on a regular
basis.

I have also discovered "the source" of Calder Bros Delicious dairy products.
Being that I want to keep this information "under my hat" as it were I will
not be divulging anything more on this subject. You can torture me, but I will
NOT tell. I do have to say that the Butter Pecan is way way better than
anything Haagen Dazs can make.

(For a small fee, I may leak the info.)

#13 of 120 by orinoco on Tue Apr 29 22:26:29 2003:

Keeping dairy products under your hat for any length of time might be unwise.

IWLTA that I now have Linux working on a 486 with Opera 6.03 and Lynx 2.8.4
(ssl) and I can access grex via backtalk with both of them. (Opera 5.05 and
Links do not work for backtalk). But my backspace does not work in X ;(
About 20 or so of us are helping each other with a small linux distribution
via a mailing list. I offered them a grex conference but no takers.

Are you going to be at Penqicon to show it off this weekend?

You can include your self on the baslinux mailing list at ibiblio.org but you
should be using Slackware 7.1 to get involved. There is an ssh compiled for
basiclinux available. You might just download basiclinux 2.03 yourself and
use the included telnet and then add ssh. The dialler always works, even on
a modem that almost nothing else will work on (Kermit also works). The
download is about 2M and you get dialler, telnet, and browser and editor.

You would have to add the module or substitute a bigger kernel, after
installing to hard disk. Can we take this to email now?

#20 of 120 by janc on Mon May 5 03:52:22 2003:

The first bit of work on building the next Grex computer got done today.
Since it isn't likely to make the TV news report, I put up a web page
with photos instead.

Thanks to all who donated money for the purchase of this system.

#21 of 120 by oval on Mon May 5 14:08:05 2003:

kickass.

(i want a RTFM tshirt, dammit)

#22 of 120 by scott on Mon May 5 14:37:45 2003:

Said shirt may be purchased at:

#23 of 120 by oval on Mon May 5 14:53:03 2003:

dammit, no RTFM for on a baby tee.

#24 of 120 by other on Mon May 5 16:27:53 2003:

I'd like it on a nice button-down oxford shirt, right on the breast pocket.
   :)

#25 of 120 by scott on Mon May 5 16:45:46 2003:

I bet you could get it embroidered easily enough; some people put their
monogram on their dress shirts.

#26 of 120 by gregb on Tue May 6 13:59:05 2003:

Another alternative is to get a T-shirt design program. Hanes has one
that's pretty good.

That joke did not go over well with my inlaws, who are from the South.

Choose your audience carefully ;-)

*shrug* then again, Atlanta is a metro city, isn't it? And I thought
the near South was poorer than the deep South, i.e. the Ozarks, for
example. I remember a sad month of telemarketing employment calling
folks in that area who said things like they had but a Wal-Mart in
their area as far as a business.

#34 of 120 by scott on Fri May 9 13:40:41 2003:

To me, "deep South" means southern Ohio and Indiana, where people in the gas
stations start talking with a funny southern accent.

#35 of 120 by gull on Fri May 9 13:44:28 2003:

The South starts when you see the watertower that says "Florence,
Y'All". This is just a bit south of the IHOP/Waffle House line.

#36 of 120 by dameon on Fri May 9 14:03:52 2003:

hello

#37 of 120 by goose on Fri May 9 14:17:11 2003:

Yep, "Florence Y'All" is the start of the South to me too.

#38 of 120 by jiffer on Fri May 9 18:13:15 2003:

Deep south is when you leave any major city in Georgia, Alabama or
Mississippi, and you hope your car doesn't break down or you get lost.
Let me add South Carolina to that... I went to Beech Island and it was
scarey.

#39 of 120 by jaklumen on Fri May 9 22:15:22 2003:

resp:32 if you're serious, (which I doubt) you'd be in for culture
shock if you were to come down I-82 to the Columbia Basin, much less
across the Oregon border over to Umatilla.
