There is a System Problems item in agora. This item concerns helping users that encounter a system problem. How to identify that that's what it is, and how to go about helping the user.

I tried to help a helpee today, who could not run mail or pine. I couldn't think of any reason why not, so went to finger him and look at this .login and .cshrc and .pinerc, to see if I could see anything wrong. What I found was, that he didn't exist! Finger came up blank for his id (which was also his name). He then said that he had tried to change his login shell (what the heck, try something, if something else doesn't work), and was told he couldn't access his password file (or something like that). I presume this is something to do with the disk problems that are occurring. I referred the problem to staff. Was there anything else I might have done? Is anyone else encountering helpees with system problems and, if so, what seems to be going wrong most frequently, lately?
Aha! So that's what his problem was! (He had asked me as well.)

Now there are TWO "System Problems" items here. Gosh, Thanks, robh.
Sorry, but I got sick of not knowing what was going on with the system, and I am NOT joining Agora.

You could have forgot everything in agora except System Problems (and maybe System Nonproblems). Then you wouldn't have needed to duplicate it in helpers. But, no problem - I'll just forget that item here.
No, Rane, I mean I quit the agora conference and have not even attempted to read it since last April. In a way, that is like forgetting all the other items, but then I can't read the System Problems item there. And no, joining and forgetting all but one item is not a valid option IMHO, when I boycott a conference I mean it.
Ah hah! But now you have invited a piece of agora into your sanctum! Aren't you afraid that it will contaminate everything, or maybe even reproduce and replace all the native items?

No, I don't count it if the item is linked in from Agora. Otherwise, I couldn't read any of the conferences, including the other three I f-w. Good try, though. >8) popcorn - Sorry, but it's now passed beyond being annoyed with Matt Smith or the "Prayer Against Abortionists" or anything like that. I am now in the throes of Proving A Point. (caps intended) And there's not much that can sway me when I'm Proving A Point.
