I've got an interesting new health happening. The other night, it started to feel like my left foot was semi-asleep. Today, a couple days later, the foot feels normal, but the side of the calf feels a little numb. And since it started, I can't pull my toes upward as far. It's getting better, and I'm not worried about it, but what the heck *is* it? A few years ago I got a mysterious numb spot on my thigh, which the doctor said was likely a pinched nerve. The treatment was Ibuprofin, to reduce inflammation so that if the nerve was hung up somewhere it could get loose. After a few days, it was totally gone.

I'd recommend having it checked out. Probably nothing, but it could be serious. On top of that, you can have peace of mind knowing it really is ok. A similar thing happened to my daughter's boyfriend. They are giving him a battery of tests, including neurological tests, to help diagnose by exclusion.
It's getting better already. I've had enough little strange things over the years to not be especially worried about this one. (Looking at this conf. you'd get the idea Scott has had a lot of health things, but hey, I've never been in the hospital except to visit!)
Were you born at home?
Could be nothing...but then again. Is there diabetes in your family? What about neuologic problems? circulatory problems? When did you last have a physical? Do you take/use any drugs (including alcohol and street drugs)? All these need to be considered, but if it's going away, or gone, it's likely nothing too important. May have just been sitting at your keyboard for too long and pinched a branch of your sciatic nerve. Get it checked if it lingers, or recurrs.
Actually, I was squatting down to pry up old floor tiles most of the day. Then I went to a movie and tripped in the aisle. So I had a reason that it happened, probably. (I didn't go the hospital to get born, although I did go home from the hospital afterwards. And beside, it could have been a conspiracy to make me think I'd been born in a hospital.)
I checked the Merck Manual for what came to mind immediately, like a venous embolism. Such things cause a lot of local pain, apparently. (Searching in the Merck Manual for symptoms is dangerous, however, as one may find something invariably fatal that fits....). (So, you were conceived in the hospital, while your mother was hospitalized for nine months? I'm sorry to hear that.)

(Robh will *pay* for this linkage... >:)
