I don't seem to be able to abort long listings here like I can on MNET. I'm configured for ANSI emulation, if that has anything to do with it. I've tried sending all the control key values from this PC that I can, but only found that one of them logs me off. Maybe it's this screwy Quik Link II modem software I got with this 2400 baud fax/modem. I've tried to get "man" info on "set" or "TERM" but can't get it. Am i missing something? Does my setup need modification? How can I change it to allow me to abort long silly entries OR does Grex allow such a function?

Edit your .cfonce file and insert a line that says "set pager more" (without the quotes, of course). This will tell Picospan to use the "more" program when sending you output. You could also use another pager, such as "less".
According to the "stty" command in your .profile, your interrupt key is set to "^?", or DEL. Try hitting DEL to abort listings. If you don't have a DEL key, Ctrl-BKSP might work. If not, your best bet would be to edit your .profile and change the "^?" to something else; "^C" is a popular choice.
I've been poking around briefly in Unix, but can't find either a ".cfonce" or a ".profile" there, though I know they must exist. Am I getting a default setup because I don't have those things? Or is there a second directory assigned to my ID besides /h1b/u/kt8k?
Try "ls -la"; the -a lists *all* files, including ones that start with a period (or, who's names do, I mean). You've got the files in question.

Thanks very much. I "vi-d" those files and saw what you did. Back in the bbs I found that ctrl-shift-/ didn't work but ctrl-backspace does, so I'm all set. Mucho appreciado (I love fake foreign languages).
