Grex Hardware Item 27: uuencoding/decoding [linked]
Entered by bad on Thu Dec 5 17:28:05 UTC 1991:

Hokay, I'd hoped it wouldn't come to this, but I've got annoying
friends...

Anybody got a nice uu-decoder I can use on my 80386?
I now have a 1/2 meg gif file I've "gotta see", and it's all
a bunch of stinking characters at the moment...
Is there an encoder/decoder sitting around here somewhere, or (if not
too big) could someone upload one, or just hand it to me at some point?
I'm at the U-M and EMU campuses on a daily basis...
        Thanks...

Oh, and if anyone has any pearls to share on uuencoding, hey, be my guest.

I have an MS-DOS uudecoding program. It's pretty short; I'll just upload
it here and delete it once you've grabbed it. (It's public domain, so that's
perfectly legal to do.)

Yeah, I figured it would be...(PD, as well as short).

Oh, and thanks.. :)

So what is this marvelous .GIF file?

Uh...it's pretty distasteful.
Something from alt.sex.bestiality.
If you like that sort of thing, this is the sort of thing you'd like.
I am surprised, actually, that it's legal to just go posting this stuff.
Sheesh...I should know better when somebody tells me, "Hey, check THIS out!"

As long as it doesn't involve minors, it's probably legal...

Still sounds disgusting, though.

Yeah, it's pretty gnarly.
I dunno on the minors question...couldn't tell how old the dog was :)
(geez, that's gross...sorry)

I'd grab stuff like that (had I a machine to view them on) just out of
curiousity sometimes. Sad thing is, most pitures in the alt.sex groups
can be found on your local magazine rack.

Where'd you think they were copied from?

I was sent several files as uuencoded-apple-single data. I have UUTool
2.3.2. However applying UUTool "decode" to the files produces MSWORD
text files *with zero bytes* content. The files consist only of the
data fork. Can someone give "instructions for dummies" for using UUTool
to reproduce the apple-single file?
