Jdeigert asks same-sex couples, or even singles, who would like to raise children, if they prefer that their children be of the same biological sex as them, and of the same sexual orientation. Are there any readers of this conference who are homosexual and already raising children? Is it possible to choose the sex of a child conceived by artificial insemination?

Possible to chose a child's sex? Technically yes, will doctors do it is another matter- and how much it costs is a LOT. Doctors have been known to separate sperm for couples who know of very specific sex-linked genetic problems and want a child of the opposite sex to try to avoid those problems. I'm not sure how common this is, the procedure being done I mean, but I can only think that right now it's really rare, and ungodly expensive for mere humans. <grins>
I imagine also that doctors who are willing to do such a procedure to avoid a sex-linked genetic disorder would be less willing to do it because the parents prefer one sex. Or at least, I would hope they'd be less willing.
