Ann Arbor is full of interesting front-yard gardens. I have some favorites, and I'm sure you do too. Tell us where your special garden spots are.

One of my favorite sights this time of year is creeping phlox, which makes lovely mats of color in lavender, pink and white. One really great use of this is on Beakes, just before 5th as you're heading toward Main, on the right side of the street. The people there have put together patches of different colored creeping phlox in a row that drips over a low wall next to the sidewalk. It's breathtaking, if you take a moment to slow down on your drive and appreciate it. But hurry, because the phlox will only bloom for another week or two.
