I just discovered the wonderful party man page on Jan Wolter's web site:
http://unixpapa.com/party-man.html
Long irritated by the glut of long-forgotten in-jokes in the global party
/noises list and inspired by knowledge of the makenoise option, I tried
makeing my own /noise.
However, my attempted ":set makenoise=/u/p/a/papa/share/party/newnoise"
was mercilessly rejected with the proclamation, "party error: makenoise
is not a user settable option".
If the option were user-settable, it looks like anyone who cared to make
the effort could define their own set of /noises in place of the ancient
global list. Can this be changed?

aswell as letting users make new noises, i think clearing out all the old noises (unless current users are attahced to any) would be a good idea (and maybe periodic housekeeping of the noise list ). The party channels list could do with the same treatment.
If party makes an old noise does anyone hear it
The 90s references in party noises are an odd experience...
resp:2 Yes, if you use "-n".
