I thought i would create a gopher topic in this forum, as i ask a lot of
questions in the Party talker, and make a few suggestions - which i'm sure
have been discussed before elsewhere, but if anyone has anything gopher
related on their mind, it can be shared here:
The following is a cut n paste from party, where i was just airing a few
thoughts on gopher:

mijk:     tfurrows: yes having something like daily batch in each gopherhole
would be a nice way to link us all together, and keep us in touch, here on
this system and obviously with the gophersphere at large. If there was a
standard set of options people could choose, maybe from a menu even for the
more timd users amongst us, it would be cool. Dailt batch, a small text
map/where i am, a user profile file maybe, and a standard place for us to look
up comments/replies to phlog posts etc...  (could there even be a daily batch
typer script to 'just' parse the contents of a 'replies' file? You could add
or remove as many as these things as you like, but having a standar location
for them all might help?"

A thought occured to me:
A good place maybe to have the daily batch would be directly on the main page
of the gopher server (in fact it would be a good place to have some of the
other things maybe?)?

I am responding here in hopes of ridding myself of the necessity of looking
at swolf154's erased post from 15 Mar. which Fronttalk has been flagging as
a newresponse for the last three weeks.

Re. the Daily Batch for May 26 (and probably multiple earlier dates), 
there appears to be a bug in the Daily Batch script that generates 
invalid selectors for some files (with multiple periods in their name?), 
including those for farooqkz's new Gopher hole. Be sure to check it out 
by pointing your browser directly at:

        gopher://grex.org/1/~farooqkz 

I'm sure the bug has affected selectors for other pages, too. Apologies 
to all affected gopherists. I will try to debug as soon as possible.
