Sorry if this is the wrong forum. Was there an outage Sunday night, Monday all day and Tuesday morning? I was unable to get in via either ssh or via the web interface, even though the box appeared to respond to pings and nmap showed the usual suspects on the usual ports (sorry for the scan -- I tried to make it as slow and unaggressive as nmap would let me to not waste throughput or piss off the server's security systems). There is nothing in the motd about an outage, nor is there a post on HVCN's grex-info page. Thanks in advance

Heh, welcome.
Grex has now been up 23 days. Which would seem to imply a reboot right around the time maus is asking about. Unfortunately, I don't recall the details. Perhaps they can be found in the "System Announcements" or "System Problems" item in the current agora? The HVCN "Grex Status" page is no longer being maintained: anyone who has the abiltiy to update it should instead be fixing the problem. :)
It was explained to me that cyberspace.org was administratively down to correct problems caused by vandals. Another post elsewhere implied that these vandals were using the grex server to attack an upstream DNS server, I think.
