#2 of 172 by jamie on Thu Apr 18 01:05:30 1996:

How much time does it take? I have next to none for about three weeks...

YAY THIS GAME ROX! kain will play

#4 of 172 by jsr on Thu Apr 18 18:15:46 1996:

Diplomacy is a great game, but time-consuming if played properly.
I used to publish a PBM Diplomacy zine. I'd love to get involved,
but I'm afraid time doesn't permit.

#5 of 172 by kain on Thu Apr 18 19:43:15 1996:

all ya got to do is think we got plenty of time, diplomacy on-line e-mail the
orders

#6 of 172 by eldrich on Thu Apr 18 21:49:39 1996:

Jamie: the game takes as much time as you want to put into it, writing orders ,
etc. is nice and quick, it's the alliences that take time.

#7 of 172 by jamie on Mon Apr 22 01:53:06 1996:

Well, as soon as I get back from my high school orchestra/band/choir tour this
weekend, I'll be happy to play, if someone who knows how to play would explain
the rules for me....

#8 of 172 by eldrich on Mon Apr 22 19:58:58 1996:

Alrihgt, we have three players four if you count me, if we could round up seven
that would be best.

does is post the orders and setter er settle arguments (eg rules) . I would
prefer to do the third, and will give you my word that I will be impartial.
Once we can find a suffectenct er suffecient number of players I will mail (via
E- or snail mail) you maps rules, etc.

#9 of 172 by mneme on Mon Apr 22 20:32:31 1996:

most of you people have problems w/ me doing moth er both (Bob really wants to

#17 of 172 by jamie on Sun Apr 28 20:53:18 1996:

You're so kind, Kain!

What era does this take place in? Modern? The countries sound sort of like
World War One...

#18 of 172 by kain on Sun Apr 28 21:07:45 1996:

it is world war one

#19 of 172 by jamie on Mon Apr 29 01:14:17 1996:

Nifty...So, we play the countries as listed above and attempt to win the war
for our side by battle and diplomacy?

#20 of 172 by kain on Mon Apr 29 21:11:55 1996:

it's evreycountry for itself and yes you can team up
mail me your orders for round 1 and we may begin

#21 of 172 by jamie on Mon Apr 29 21:38:38 1996:

Um, er, what orders are available? What assets/resources do our countries
have available? Are we allowed to make alliances? (stupid question; the name
of the game is "Diplomacy"...) Ahhh!

Okay, now that I've got that out of my system...

#22 of 172 by kain on Tue Apr 30 01:56:32 1996:

hmm, bob, seacow <*chuckle*>, truffle, we need to get them maps somehow
you tell your armies and fleets where to go
no dice rolling 2 armies beats 1. 3 beats 2, etc.

#23 of 172 by jamie on Tue Apr 30 02:28:31 1996:

Okay...sounds good. A map would be nice.

#24 of 172 by jamie on Tue Apr 30 02:32:09 1996:

So, if Kain is the GOD, then is orinoco Italy?

#25 of 172 by kain on Tue Apr 30 03:11:38 1996:

#26 of 172 by eldrich on Tue Apr 30 19:46:20 1996:

#27 of 172 by kain on Tue Apr 30 19:51:40 1996:

#29 of 172 by mneme on Tue Apr 30 21:59:04 1996:

OK; i've got rules and maps and stuff (and a dip set at home) so I'llm ail Kain
my orders once I've got a map in front of me. Okay, now I've got a map in
front of me (yes, virginia, there is a Dip map at http://cadman.cit.buffal
o.edu/~bucklaew/dipmap.html), so i'll do my orders now. Snafu -- aliliance?
France+england shouln't fight, for a myraid of reasons. Spain is MINE.

#30 of 172 by kain on Wed May 1 02:30:31 1996:

you might not want to dsicuss alliances here, evreyone can see them, just
a suggestion.

#31 of 172 by seacow on Wed May 1 20:33:14 1996:

Ok I think we should have some kind of time thingy. Like orders have to be
in by 8:00 or something. ANd if they are not, unless there is something like
a play or something they are in civil-disorder. I read the whole rule book
and that basicly is you cant do anything. If you lose a supply center you
lose an armie farthest away. We dont have to do that but you must have orders
in by a certin time. THanks
                                        FROGBOY(SEACOW)

#32 of 172 by kain on Wed May 1 22:36:35 1996:

okay Rules I think are apropriate.
I think previously mentioned rule is stupid
you have to have X number of supply stations to win so if you lose one, your
problem
Fleets can attack and hold costal stuff, none of kate's screwed up rules
You can not move and support in the same turn with thesame army

agreed?

#33 of 172 by seacow on Wed May 1 23:06:31 1996:

Well I guess we wont play the real game then. Well thats cool. BUt i think
we should play the real game
Ok, well thats cool, I got a setup of home of dimp. I will give it to kain
when it gets more into the game

#34 of 172 by jamie on Thu May 2 00:36:39 1996:

I would appreciate a copy of the rules...Is someone planning on posting or
e-mailing or snail-mailing rules summaries to us inexperienced persons?

How much does the game cost? I might as well just go out and buy it. (yeah,
right, like I have cash...)

#35 of 172 by kain on Thu May 2 02:13:13 1996:

got 60 bucks?
go out and buy it
if you feel like it
Well, whadaya guys think? I really don't have much preference so long as the
rules are pre-set

#36 of 172 by seacow on Thu May 2 03:06:07 1996:

I am either going to type the rule book or I might scan or photocopy it, then
mail it. BUt we should all get orders in each day by a certin time. I have
a set up at home.

#37 of 172 by orinoco on Thu May 2 21:01:48 1996:

Just tell me when the game starts, GOD, I've got my rules now

#38 of 172 by seacow on Thu May 2 21:19:38 1996:

The first round starts as soon as everyone turns in there orders. Also we
nned to make a plan on when to turn in orders. My plan is every other day
for a week(3 turns) then everyday from then on unless people have to go
somewhere or otherwise noted(5 days). The weekend is diffrent. Some of us
have lives and do stuff on weekends and dont sit anywhere. So everyother
day for a week then everyday from then on, no weekends unless everyone can.
Thanks, eitherway the orders should be turned in by 10:30 no mater what and
they should be posted by kain(GOD) by 7:00 so people can plan and stuff.
Thats it and what I think should be done. If you have a better idea post it.
Kain has the finnal say(bad spelling). Thanks all,

P.S. My idea is the best....

                        Mark HErshey(frogboy/seacow/hoochie
mama/tachibana/muffin/sput) He he....

#39 of 172 by coyote on Thu May 2 21:57:01 1996:

I think we should not have to lose an army if we lose a supply station. We
just shouldn't get that army back if we re-capture the supply station.
