Welcome all to the GREX Femme conference, where-in we discuss women's issues. All viewpoints are welcome -- but since there are many valid and conflicting views on so many ideas, please remember to always direct your vehemence at the idea, not its proponent. Thanks.

Shouldn't that be "your space cadettes" up there in the cf.header or whatever- you-call-it?
How do I join the men's conference? Surely grex would not be so sexist as to not provide one?
Nope, we're not. If you'd like to f-w it, just ask in the coop conference.
this conference sucks.

How are all of you doing?
I'm dong just fine, thank you. Enjoying a great Michigan summer. How about you?
Where is the mens conference? I want to join.
I don't think there is one, as of right now. But if you think there should be one, why don;t you start it? Meanwhile, we'd like to have you stay and contribute your thoughts to femme. Welcome ryan1.
Thanks headdoc, but I think that I will leave this conference to the ladies.
How does one start a conference? Help is no help. Meanwhile, Ryan, why don't you stay? I haven't gotten flamed yet.
to start a conference, join the coop conference, enter an item describing the conference you'd like to strat, and stand back Generally you'll have your conference within a few days.
O.K. brighn, If you really don't care if I stay, I will. Also while we are on the topic of creating conferences, could you please tell me how to create an item. I can't find help on it anywhere.
Type Enter at the o.k. prompt. Enter the text of the item first, then press ., and enter the one line description. (But nothing can go on Homme until we've entered the Welcome item, which means getting the FWs together in one place on Grex. :-S )
Thanks, every one here at Grex has been very helpful.
Hey ryan how did you hear about grex?
On the internet.

Everyone can credit Kentn for the Lucy and the Femme Logo, and Valerie for helping me put them together and getting them on the screen. Playig with this computer is getting to be more and more fascinating. Especially in light of the fact that I was so computer resistent for so long. Now, I can't wait to learn new things. :help

hi yall!
Hi back to ya! Where do you hail from?
I "hail from" DC and I'm new to grex. But it's nice to be visiting!
Hello, I'm new to all this! o Help
I'm not new to all this and in fact have been around forever. But I recently rejoined this conference so I think I'll say hello anyhow.
Hi gannon and welcome. And a harty welcome to you, too remmmers even though you've been around elsewhere as long a s Methusala.
Hi, everyone, I'm new too....I'm wonderering if there is a way to contact by E-Mail the U of M School of Social Work Admissions Office. I am from the north country in Michigan and once was a grad student there. I am interested in getting back into a MSW program if pthe whole process again to apply. It's been since about 1986. Does anyone know how I might do this without actually visiting UofM (ann Arbor? thanks for any help. "."
Hi, rmadams, welcome to Grex! I took a look at the UM-X500 database
and it didn't turn up a whole lot. However, I also took a peek in a
1992 staff directory and then cross-reffed that with UM-X500. Here's
a couple leads you might follow up:
sandyr@s.imap.itd.umich.edu Sandy Rod, Student Services Asst.
edithl@e.imap.itd.umich.edu Assoc. Prof. Edith Lewis (was listed
in the 1992 directory as the asst. dean of admissions, though
that's probably changed by now--Prof. Lewis might be able to
point you in the right direction; don't know).
Let me say that I don't know either of these people, and am basing
their connection to the School of Social Work only on the X500 database
entries and their listing in that 1992 staff/faculty directory.
Good luck!
I'm at the School of Social Work -- I _think_ Sandy is still there, though I don't know for sure. Edith Lewis wouldn't be a bad person to contact, though a phone call to the Admissions Office (now known as the "Office of Student and Multicultural Affairs") might end up being quickest and most effective. Hope to see you down here soon.
Yeah, even though both those people in :31 are currently listed in X500, they may no longer be at the School of Social Work; it takes a while before old entries are purged or emended.
Thanks to roz and kentn for the names at the School of Social Work. That gives me a lead, and appreciate it a lot. I am hoping that now northern Michigan is connected in a big way to the Internet that UofM might see it in their heart (and their pocketbooks) to offer programs to the people in northern Michigan. We are not just rural "bumpkins" up here... there's real people, doing real things, and life (sometimes the good life) does exist up here....and I might say much less stressful, and peaceful. Anyway, time will tell... thanks again for the tip, and depending on what happens may enroll for my last year. see ya .... "."
Good luck, rmadams
