Grex Enigma Item 307: Couplet
Entered by remmers on Wed Sep 10 00:18:47 UTC 1997:

Oh how many days of thunder have passed by our parasol
of treason in mourning for bats that never experienced
        trauma or despair?

Oh how many trays of tundra have amassed toward our
parasol on recent mornings when cats experienced sawdust
        in their hair?

Sheesh, don't you guys know rhetorical questions when you see
them?

#4 of 11 by orinoco on Fri Sep 12 22:19:05 1997:

Of course I do.
Which is why I didn't answer this one.
Except I have now. Pity.

rhetorical questions were meant to be answered and answered incorrectly

I think we should discuss why there particular questions were
asked. I'll state up front that I personally have no idea.

#7 of 11 by lee on Sat Sep 13 22:01:35 1997:

Questions are asked because nobody has no real idea what is going on and
therefore tries to ask someone else to get the second person to think about
it and take the burden off themselves.

However, this is not true of rhetorical questions.

#9 of 11 by lee on Mon Sep 15 00:51:56 1997:

Rhetorical questions are asked by people who want to see who actually tries
to answer them.

#10 of 11 by orinoco on Mon Sep 15 01:57:27 1997:

Oh, are they?

Case in point.
