Grex Enigma Item 298: Sammy's Song
Entered by remmers on Fri Jul 18 20:27:22 UTC 1997:

Loonie the Moon poked snoozing Sammy Sparrow in the ribs
and said "Sing your song, you lazy bird!"

Sleepily, Sammy Sparrow started to comply but stopped
halfway through, for fear of earning the attention of
Charlie the Cat, who was probably prowling nearby.

At least, that was Harry Human's idea as to why Sammy
stopped singing. But then Harry remembered that Sammy was
a ventriloquist bird who could make his song appear to be
        coming from another tree.

"So why did Sammy stop?" wondered Harry to himself. "For
that matter, why is a bird a bird and a human a human?"
Harry reflected on how lucky he was to be a human being,
as he never needed to fear that his own singing would
cause Charlie the Cat to pounce on him, ventriloquist
        or no ventriloquist.

I told you not to hang out in the rabid watermelon patch, but did you listen
to me? No. No one listen to Madame Liza. I tell you no more.
