Grex Enigma Item 207: Meditation
Entered by remmers on Tue Aug 2 05:54:47 UTC 1994:

The sidewalk knows my song. And my song is long.
And the country dirt roads, they know it too.

It is a song of journeying, striving, hoping,
yearning toward a star and never quite getting there.

But I digress.

From what?

Oh, from nothing, there was no prior topic.

I'll try to keep more focused, I do tend to wander.
That is why my song is long.

Tuesday. Most mundane of days, day of least character.
Too far from the weekend, and moving away from it.
Thursday looks symmetrically placed but isn't -
on Thursday we are going toward the weekend,
not away from it. The home stretch. Time's arrow.

But it is Tuesday of which we speak, not Thursday.
Oh, no, not Tuesday either. It is my song that
we speak of, my song which is long.

I knew that.

Wednesday
Why is Wednesday the forgotten day...always and away
from any thought of a middle a resting a pause
Why do we leave out Wednesday?

Could it be
that it's name is hard to say to spell to think?
Can we not clamor to change the dreadful order
of its unfortunate letters? Should it not
be our duty our sworn oath
All others be damned
Let Wednesday stand.

And what about February?

Monday, Monday,
Can't trust that day,
Monday, Monday,
Sometimes it just turns out that way.
