I'm becoming interested in multimedia both from a consumer and producer viewpoint because I'm working on a hypercard stack right now. Does anyone have any interesting tales about authoring a multimedia project? Does anyone have any reomendations for multimedia titles along the lines of Myst (I don't have CD ROM yet but soon).

do you have a mac?
Yes an LC III it's slow but it gets the job done.
I'm working on QUEST right now. I'm not sure that it's hit the market yet. But its nice for what I'm doing. If you are a PC person, try it.
What is quest? Is that a multi-media authoring language? I'm not familiar with PC applications. I can only affordthe time to keep up with Mac, and the little bit of Unix I need to survive on Grex :-) .
Quest is a multi media authoring program which allows the user to build
graphics, and map kiosks via flow charts (not a new idea, but a useful
one if user friendly!) It is for PCs and so far so good.
As for audio, we are using SAW for PC. We will import our video
through graphic paintboxes (also PC based) The only problem we
are running into is... can we import a quicktime video from a mac
to a pc? I believe we can. But, it may take some maneuvering.
If anyone has any suggestions, let me know! Thankds
JG
My uderstanding is that quicktime runs on both macs and pcs. Another alternative would be to convert the quicktime file to mpeg which I know is cross platform. I'm pretty sure there are shareware mac utilites to covert quickyime to mpeg.
I will be living in the Greenville, South Carolina area this summer and am new to the area. Does anyone have any ideas for a multi media internship? I have had to explain the term "internship" to too many people already. HELP! Thanks.
Well you might be able to get an intership setting up a web page for
an orginization. I know for example that U of M hospital was looking for
someone to set up their web page about a month back. I know that doesn't
help you diirectly but it's an indea of a type of project you could do.
What sort of internship are you looking for? Have you tried through
your university yet?
I'm looking for an opportunity to learn more about multi media from a presentation standpoint. But i'm not that choosey. Here's what I've done... I've been production director at the University station. a floor engineer for the broadcasting dept, designed, shot, wrote, and produced a multi media presentation for Milwaukee Public school library system, President of a multi media organization on campus, and ardently searching for any and all opportunities to apply and learn more. Next semester, the theatre dept is putting on a production that utilizes all media. I plan to edit my sound on SAW, and do some three-d animation on TOPAS. However, I've only been at this end of media for a year. I am not sure what opportunities are out there... it's hard to judge from where where I'm standing what jobs are availible. I also am coordinating a project in MARCh with the Electronic Cafe International to do a poetry slam via pic phone, speaker phone and the internet. I'm absolutely in love with what I can do with multi media but I have so much to learn yet. I've only taken a computer course in C programming, but I enjoy that end of it too. What is your advice for targeting my resume? I'm still a junior, so I have a little time. Thank you!
Hmmmm this topic has been dead for over 2 years. Multimedia is everywhere now days but much of it seems to be advertising hype. Does anyone have any reviews of out of the ordinary web sites or CD-ROMs?
Uhhhh Fidopunk Accademy? ;-)
thinkin of doing computer science with multimedia systems next year at uni, sounds interesting.
