The Paypal balance above is from July. We hope to update that number at this meeting.
Selection of Resident Agent (michigan resident to receive official state mailings at their non-post office box address.)
Is Mark no longer willing or able to serve as the Resident Agent?
That's why we switched to TS. I think Mark is too busy to deal with Grex. He might be willing to help, possibly, but I kind of doubt he has the time.
I hadn't heard that TS was the Resident Agent. I thought he was just the Treasurer.
I thought about starting a new item, but I'll raise the matter here, in connection with the Resident Agent selection. Mark's is also the only name on the PO Box access list. We will need his attendance to change to a new lead, if we want one. I'm going to try to make the Debrief tomorrow, to talk to him about it. My question, though, is who else should be on the list? Kent comes to mind, as does Tony. I'm available, as well. NB: I am NOT volunteering to be the Resident Agent.
TS had access to the PO box and was the one renewing it each year ($65 if I recall correctly). He should have a key. We are very short on Michigan residents in the area to do things like this. Note that I live outside Ann Arbor, so checking the box requires me to drive more than 30 min. to get there, though it wouldn't hurt to have me on the access list, I guess, just in case no one else is available to check it. I have the change of resident agent form downloaded. It is one page and requires the information of the previous RA (name, address) and the info for the new RA and a corporate officer/agent signature. We need the RA information in order to file our yearly MI corporate update.
When I was there yesterday, their new keys didn't work, so they are changing the lock. So TS's key won't work. I didn't make it to the debrief, so I'll send a message to Mark with the details, to see what he is willing to do. The Resident Agent and the P O Box are separate things.
Due to lack of quorum and technical difficulties, we're postponing this one.
I'd like to add the PO Box issues we've been having to the agenda when we do meet. Also some discussion of the charity in Ann Arbor that wants to donate to Grex. Finally, it is not too early to start planning for this year's Board elections. 4 seats will become open.
This was in my spam folder: } We are a Network Service Company which is the domain name registration } center in Shanghai, China. We received an application from Huake Ltd on } September 21, 2015. They want to register " cyberspace " as their Internet } Keyword and " cyberspace .cn " " cyberspace .com.cn " " cyberspace .net.cn } " " cyberspace .org.cn " " cyberspace .asia " domain names etc.., they are } in China and Asia domain names. But after checking it, we find "cyberspace" ) conflicts with your company. In order to deal with this matter better, so ) we send you email and confirm whether this company is your distributor or ) business partner in China or not? Do we care about the domain name in China and Asia? The message was from Jim Gong <jim.gong@webregistry.org.cn>, and signed } Jim } General Manager } Shanghai Office (Head Office) } 3008, Jiulong Building, No. 836 Nandan Road, } Xuhui District, Shanghai 200070, China } Tel: +86 216191 8696 } Mobile: +86 1870199 4951 } Fax: +86 216191 8697 } Web: www.webregistry.org.cn
If we don't register other variations of cyberspace.X then they are fair game for another company to register. Obviously, we are not affilated with Huake Ltd. I don't think we have the money and time to chase this kind of thing around all over the globe. As long as they don't try to take cyberspace.org or pretend they are, we should be okay. But, there will likely be some search conflicts at some point. We'll need to make sure they don't try to take over cyberspace.org via some backhanded complaint process, though. And keeping our domain registration up to date would be wise. That cyberspace.org is worth a lot more than grex.org.
BTW, this is a known scam. For example, the name of the sender or their so-called domain registry company changes frequently. If you reply, they'll try to sell you domains, potentially via phone calls. So, we should NOT reply to this e-mail. Just ignore it (delete it).
Thank you, Kent.
Thanks Kent
Has a new date been set?
Not yet. I've been busy with work and yard work. I did try once but only got a response from Tod. I need at least a quorum to make a decision on when to meet. Otherwise it's two people meeting who can't do anything.
Okay, we'll try to meet online at 9:30 p.m. Eastern time on Friday, Oct. 30, 2015.
