Grex Coop Item 313: Minutes from 5/29/11 Meeting

Meeting called to order at 7:20 pm. Present: kentn, steve, and denise 
[quorum has been met].  

Minutes from previous meeting has been approved.  

Next meeting scheduled for Sunday, July 10th, 6:30 pm at Big Boy s in 
Ann Arbor [same location: US23 and Plymouth Rd].

Validation/Verification Status: Kent has been validating newusers; 
current newusers are validated while older requests are being worked on.
  A backlog of paid users needing to be verified will be taken care of 
shortly. There are still glitches in new user; email not always being 
sent out. We do need a better login process.

Federal Tax Return Status: Steve will take care of this.

Using Grex for Teaching Intro Unix Class: Kent has been in touch via 
email with a professor who would like to use Grex for a learning 
experience for his Unix class. Since education is a part of Grex s 
mission, this is a good idea.  Steve will get in touch with this 
professor.  Professor is aware of the students needing to get validated.

Web site updates: The server was down; a process was killed and 
restarted.

Town Hall Cf Item & Planning, continued: Continue to work on/set up 
infrastructure first. Consider adding services, not taking away 
services. Grex s 20th birthday is coming up on 7/18.  There are some 
things that Veek would like to try on on the volunteer page [see item 
#312 in coop]; if there isn t a security risk, perhaps he can try.

Discussed but not decided: Provide.net [location] is more stable than 
previously thought, though we should/could still consider looking at 
other potential locations for housing the Grex hardware.

Treasurer s Report: Current report unavailable.

Staff Report: Grex continues to be up and running.
