Present: kentn, tsty, unicorn, mary, remmers, denise

We did not have a quorum, therefore, nothing was voted on yet we 
discussed several topics.

Treasurer s Report: We have over $2000 between checking and savings; 
tsty will be checking the paypal account balance.  We currently have 6 
members.

Ts continues to validate newusers, has validated about 100 in the past 3
 weeks [definitely an increase since January].

Staff Report: As of the meeting date, Grex has been up and running for 
69+ days.  Backups are still being done.  

Should the newuser process be updated?

Business:
--Since last meeting: through email, it was voted to ok Tonster to set 
up the security certificate through Godaddy. 

--Town Hall Cf Item and Planning:
Kent has summarized [in printed form] this item for us, will use this 
guide for discussion over the next however many meetings needed.  
One concern is that we have too much money. We should have a reserve [6 
months?] and an emergency hardware fund.  We need voters vs we need 
money... How much less $ should we have?

Lowering the cost of membership is being discussed. What perks should we
 have with paid memberships [besides being able to vote on important 
issues]?  There seems to be a consensus that membership cost should be 
lowered but it would require a bylaw change [by member vote].

Next meeting will be Sunday, Sept. 19th, 6:00 pm at Denise s.

Thanks for the quick and excellent summary of our discussion, Denise!
 
And thanks to all the board members who were able to make it to the
meeting.  We did have a good discussion about a lot of things 
including planning for Grex's future.  Note that 6 months reserve of
operating expenses is about $750.

tnx denise ... one of hte stick points for membership will be (and alsyas
has been)  what 'extras' are attached to memebership that are not
attached to non-member.
  
warm-fuzzies and voting capability seem insusfficient motivations.
  
email for all is one of our stadards, not to change
  
outbound access seems to be the singular 'extra' for membership, which
was (!!) realy importnat before the mastacizing fo the internet-4-all 
through  dsl, cable, wifi, etc. 
  
hosting web pages might be an extra wotrth considering .. yeh, we do, sorta,
bt they are text only with links to images (iirc).
  
in teh spirit of political neutrality, we could host a non-partisan
micingan- wide repository of election stuff. by twp,county,city and state
levels.  whta electoins are upcoming and what are the ballot questoins.
  
perhaps a lionk or 3 to commentary (elsewhere) about sanilac county's need
for bond isuance to pay for a bridge repair ... fer example.
  
come to grex to seee what's going on and use ouir links to go 'there' to 
engage in whateer controeversary exists.

anoher possiblity whih i brought up would be a drudge-LIKE page with
links to micingan media outlets - ALL of them.
  
for a price you have to receive worth which exceeds the cost
  
grex needs to exude a value which is commensurate or esceeds the price.
