Grex should consider reducing the size of its Board.
Currently the Board has 7 members.
From the May 2008 (not 2009) financial report:
> We are currently at 48 members, 30 of
> whom are paid through at least June 15th.
That was a year ago.
I don't know what the current number of members is, but I'm guessing
it will have declined to about 30. So, assuming 30 members, Grex
needs 23% of its members to be willing to be on the board.
That's too high a percentage.
It's unclear to me whether the cut should be to 5 members, or if
Grex should anticipate further membership decline and cut to 3 members.
A smaller board may make it easier to schedule meetings.
(There doesn't seem to be any need for the board any more, beyond
the legal requirement that we have one, and the possibility of some
future existential decision-making. :) )
This is a discussion item which could lead to the formulation of a
proposal and a member vote.

Hmmm, smells like a governance collapse. Ah well...
I think we can talk about this at the next board meeting-later this month.
I would now like to turn this into a formal proposal to reduce the size of the board to 3 people, starting with the upcoming end-2009 voting cycle. Anybody want to pitch in with crafting the bylaw language?
three us too few ppl, imo.
Well, I would need 10% of the membership to endorse the proposal to take it to a vote. As the number of members is likely an unknown value at this point, it seems impossible to proceed. I wonder if a member proposal which would impact the board election, and which was not acted on, could take precedence over the board election?
