The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are one of the main reasons I collect comic books today. I started with the Archie "TMNT Adventures" book, then picked up a lot of the darker, more adult Mirage publications. Now they've moved to Image and I have yet to buy an issue due to monetary problems at first, then i couldn't find it and now i look at the cover and the characters look so unfamiliar i don't even bother. Does anyone else here have fond memories or news about the Turtles? Feel free to post them, or anything really, cuz this conference is in desperate need of life. Thank you kindly.

Now I haven't read many issues of TMNT. Although I must say that there was this one-shot put out at Lightning just before the book went to Image. It was crossover with CreeD. I really enjoyed Trent Kanuga (sp?) interpurtation of the turtles. I must admit it was a CreeD story with the turtles, but I thought they were drawn well and protrayed nicely, unlike the pizza craving shit.
Hey man, wanna lend me that book (hah hah hah.)
tmnt #8 guest starred a kevin eastman rendered cerebus the aardvark. that issue alone was what launched me eternally into the comic book world
Julie has the first TMNT novel, which I still think is great. I think I managed to read the first 4 novels. Anyway, I can see why issue #1 was reprinted four times, but I just can't picture it in black and white-- I guess I feel the color is appropriate enough.
I collect comics. I only collect independent comics though. They are the only ones with good plots. Most other comcis are boring. Scud: The Disposable Assassin is probably my favorite comic book series. That or Akira....
I also collect comics. I collect them from all over the place though. I read a ton of Marvel stuff because of a love for the characters more than anything, and MArvel really is trying to have good talent on all their books. I also pick up Astro City, Steampunk, Spyboy, Transmetropolitan, and would pick up LOTS of other stuff too if i wasn't a poor college student.
Yes, I agree. Marvel sometimes falls hard, but Stan Lee did well in getting excellent characters established-- some of which are his own creations, most notably Spider-Man.
Yeah, however, Marvel editorial has done little to improve quality on the Spider-Man titles lately. The art is okay, but Howard Mackie and John Byrne are doing a horrible job on plotting it. It seems like they are trying to redo what made Spider-Man great in the first place and it is coming off very very badly. Paul Jenkins is a great new writer and will soon be taking over the Peter Parker: Spider-Man title, but I fear that will not be enough. Removal of Mackie and Byrne is what's necessary. Busiek/Perez's Avengers is kicking butt however, if you're into that kinda thing. And the Marvel Knights line is good stuff.
