I have recently heard that they are going to make a Fantastic Four 2099 and
*maybe* a Venom 2099. Venom's appearence in Spiderman (the number slips my
mind at the minute) was awesome! Also I think Hulk was kewl but they had
to cancel him. My least favorite of the 2099 series is probably Doom.

The 2099 comics are going to be canceled and changed into one $3.95 book.

#3 of 48 by carson on Sun Jun 2 11:55:59 1996:

yep. FF 2099 has been around for half a year now. Where ya been, Jim? ;)

#4 of 48 by pezimist on Sun Jun 2 17:52:43 1996:

Make that a $2.50 book

#5 of 48 by pez on Mon Jun 24 23:20:41 1996:

Doom 2099 made an appearance in Fantastic Four #413.

carson, i did create this item in Sep of 1995 if you look at the date ;)

#7 of 48 by carson on Sun Jul 14 10:51:07 1996:

excuses! excuses!

I do miss the promise of the 2099 books, and I would have liked to have
seen what Joey Cavlieri would have done with it without the suits
interfering. It just wasn't the same after all those non-JC titles
were added. I didn't bother to wait around to see him laid off; I'm
surprised he didn't quit earlier. Thankfully, he's back at DC again.

#8 of 48 by pez on Sun Jul 14 19:10:53 1996:

I'm glad to hear he's found another job.

#9 of 48 by carson on Mon Jul 15 14:09:33 1996:

yep. he's editing the Superman titles now.

#10 of 48 by pez on Tue Jul 23 00:54:51 1996:

I have now bought and read the last issues of spider-man and X-Men 2099.. kind
of a sad thing for me after reading them since issue #1 I think they killed
off too many characters in each but i suppose it was necessary if they're
going to be one monthly title... *sigh* why are my favorite comics always
canceled before 50?

#11 of 48 by pez on Sun Aug 18 16:17:53 1996:

The Earth is flooded by the melted polar ice caps.. the only high ground is
the savage land.. humans and mutants must learn to coexist there.. there is
also a colony of people on Mars..

#12 of 48 by dbassman on Mon Dec 16 00:42:27 1996:

hey , has anyoone seen the phantom movie, yet? is it good?

#13 of 48 by pez on Mon Dec 16 01:50:56 1996:

wow. that had nothing to do with 2099 :P

#14 of 48 by bio on Mon Dec 16 02:45:19 1996:

I think he was thinking that since there was a phanton cartoon on tv that was
called Phantom 2099, Ben seems to think it has to do with the 2099 comics at
Marvel...

#15 of 48 by pez on Mon Dec 16 03:27:14 1996:

there is no Phantom 2099 at Marvel that i've ever seen so there probably isn't
one.. wasn't it Phantom 2040 tho?

#16 of 48 by bio on Mon Dec 16 04:50:11 1996:

oh yeah, your right, it was 2040. GESH! Boy was Ben off!

#17 of 48 by pez on Mon Dec 16 20:51:20 1996:

hehehehehe.. i was right.....

#18 of 48 by dbassman on Mon Dec 23 19:01:03 1996:

yeah i gues when your not on for a while you kinda get out of touch. Is 2099
mainly a Marvel thing?

#19 of 48 by pez on Tue Dec 24 18:13:28 1996:

you could say that.. they started it. Let's see there was Spider-Man 2099,
Doom 2099, Ravage 2099, Punisher 2099, 2099 Unlimited, X-Men 2099, Hulk 2099,
Fantastic Four 2099, Ghost Rider 2099, X-Nation 2099, and a couple of 1-shots.
Now there is only one 2099 book released monthly.. 2099: The World of
Tomorrow. Heh. i'm sure you all wanted to know that. :P

#20 of 48 by bio on Sat Dec 28 07:36:31 1996:

I did. But have have a complant about 2099. I dont know about the one-shots,
but othr than Ravage, all the characters are remakes of present Marvel
characters. I mean even the vilians are remakes. If you were to@do a future
story, pease make original charaters.

#21 of 48 by pez on Sat Dec 28 08:43:01 1996:

not ALL the characters and villains are/were remakes. there WAS a large number
of them that were, but there was probably a nearly equal number that weren't
the X-Men 2099 all had original powers and stuff, but they had the same name.
of course, Doom 2099 wasn't even a remake.. he was THE Dr.Doom..
Vulture 2099 wasn't much like the original Vulture.. Hulk 2099 was
disappointing.. Ghost Rider 2099 wasn't much like the present day Ghost Rider
since the future version was technology and todays is Hellfire
I personally liked The Public Enemy- this guy hated how the public just stood
and watched as crimes were commited so after he disposed of the bad guys he
would start yelling things like "Ignorant sheep!!!" and start gunning down
the crowds.. i found this hilarious.. umm.. i probably shouldn't have :P
i'll continue my 2099 ramblings later if anyone wants to hear 'em

#22 of 48 by bio on Sat Dec 28 09:24:56 1996:

I wasn't saying the actua characters were same (even though Doom was) I@was
saying the concepts were. Sure X-Men 2099 was new characters, but it was still
a X-Men book (I be it a future one). I doN't care if Vulture 209 was like the
original o^e, it's stil@the same concept. I didn't read all the books, but
you can understand my view point. And res, I want to har more "ramblings".

#23 of 48 by buzby on Sun Dec 29 04:51:56 1996:

DiE COMiCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DiE!!!!!!!! i dont even like comics!

#24 of 48 by bio on Mon Dec 30 07:16:37 1996:

then why in hell are you reading this???

#25 of 48 by bio on Mon Feb 17 08:17:46 1997:

Is 2099:WoT an anthology book and bunch of one-shot stories or just spiderman
2099?

#26 of 48 by pez on Mon Feb 17 21:22:54 1997:

it is a bunch of stories of the surviving 2099 characters: Spider-Man, Doom,
some of the X-Men 2099 and Strange 2099.. when Marvel canceled all the titles
of their 2099 line they destroyed most of the Earth and killed off most of
the supporting characters in all the books they put a few of those left into
one monthly book based in the Savage Land 2099. sigh.. i've yet to find any
issues of this comic anywhere in this stupid small town.

#28 of 48 by bio on Mon Feb 17 23:35:44 1997:

You should ask the store owner for Previews and whatever Hereos World catalog.
Then you should tell him to special order the stuff you want that he doesn't
get. That's what I do. My comicbook store buys one copies of lots of comics
just for me.

#29 of 48 by pez on Wed Feb 19 00:29:12 1997:

well.. i don't get to the only local comic shop enough to bother requesting
them to order comics for me.. if only i could afford it..

#30 of 48 by pez on Thu May 15 20:46:04 1997:

2099, The World of Tomorrow #8 is the last 2099 comic that Marvel will be
releasing for the time being.. :( this is kind of sad to me.. *sigh*

#31 of 48 by senna on Fri May 16 20:44:04 1997:

It's a pity.. 2099 is an excellent medium for new creativity, and the
characters I saw them remake and create originally, and the world they had,
were splendid.

#32 of 48 by pez on Fri May 16 21:32:13 1997:

yeah.. but it wasn't making money so they destroyed it.. however there is a
group of fans on the web that write their own stories based in the 2099 comics
the stories can be found on the page or sent to you as they're released
through the mailing list..

#33 of 48 by senna on Mon May 19 06:05:11 1997:

Heh, that's a good deal. Hell, buy out the copyright and publish it for real

#34 of 48 by pez on Mon May 19 19:52:10 1997:

i don't know if they're willing to go that far.. or if Marvel would sell it
(they do need the money..) and the fact that Spider-Man 2099 would be hard
to get the copyright for..

#35 of 48 by senna on Tue May 20 04:35:45 1997:

perhaps, but they might not mind outsourcing some products to keep them a
live. Seems viable to me.

#36 of 48 by pez on Tue May 20 20:23:54 1997:

i'd *LOVE* to have the rights to the 2099 characters.. not to mention
Sleepwalker, He-Man and The Masters of the Universe, The Pirates of Dark
Water, and NUMEROUS others.. :P

#37 of 48 by senna on Wed May 21 21:41:08 1997:

I could do a lot of cool things with some 2099 rights.

#38 of 48 by pez on Thu May 22 00:05:00 1997:

heh.. we should buy the rights senna..

#39 of 48 by senna on Fri May 23 22:02:58 1997:

hmm.. I've got $19.45. think that'd do it? :) Yes, actually, that'd be cool
 :) you draw?
