does anyone else read Strangers In Paradise? Is it really moving to the Homage imprint, along with Astro City?

Homage Comics got me on the edge of my seat. Strangers in Paradice, Astro City, Leave it to Chance. EEEEH! I can't wait until they come out.
I have read SiP lately and I most say it is one of the best comics that has ever come out. I got Vol.2 tpb (that's issues vol.2 1-9) first and I couldn't put it down. I was up untill way past my bed time reading it. I then got the Vol.1 tpb (the the collected of the mini) and it brought it to more levels. I really love SiP. The same reason I love Bone, Friends of Maxx, and Madman. It just isn't a story about two over stuffed guys pounding on each other, it's real true live drama. Nothing but good stories. I thing that the superhero genre has been written ten times over and doesn't hardly have anything original. These stories really explore the media.
In November, Homage comics will become an imprint in Image. The creators will still have full creative controll that they would before Image. See item 22 (Image News) for more info.
I just got Vol.3 of SiP. I really really loved it. One of the best stories that kept me on the egde of my seat and asking for more. It's easy to see I loved this. I exspecially loved the part where Kat and Francine were getting close. But, I read the first issue at Homage after and was greatly disapointed. In fact I would go far enough to say I hated it. First thing I'd like to point out is that the whole superhero could be ripped out of the book and it would be an improvement. Then the rest of story wasn't much beter. I mean, after the dream Francine wake up to her child (ugh). It seems we have gone ten years into the future where Katcho and Francine have broken up??? I don't like that! That means he nowhere to go with the story. I mean in the past when Terry Moore talked about writting the story he said that he would plot each issue but the characters changed. The story and the characters dictacted the story which I really like. But I don't know what Terry was thinking when he wrote this story... So in conclution, Stranger in Paradice 1-13 COOL!, Strangers in Paradice (Homage) BLA!
I agree with you about the superhero sequence. It seemed to be the way to show everybody that Image now publishes SiP more than anything else. I'm still willing to give Terry Moore the benefit of the doubt regaurding the direction he's aking this comic. I still hope that this is all a dream somehow....
I think it had more to do with Jim Lee trying to draw SiP and Terry gave him a chance.
I haven't read SipP yet, but im gonna read my friends copy of vol 2, he wants me to be veeerry careful wit it
We're up to issue #3. It's gotten a lot better, but I still have that scene from #1 in the back of my mind. They should have never done that first comic.
They shouldn't have done that superhero SiP story, but Image wanted to attract their fans. What other way to attract superhero fans with some goofy dream sequence by a "hot" Image artist. Of course, we're all waiting for everything to fall apart after the flash forward. It's now just a matter of time and will probably kill the series when we find out what happened to Francine and Katchoo to make them break up. There'll be nothing left to tell at that point.
What was Terry Moore thinking?
Terry Moore wants to do other projects. He loves to do SiP, but he wants more. Unfortunately, Lady Supreme sucks! I don't think Moore should work with established characters after reading that. I do have higher hopes for his upcoming story in Gen13 Fanzine though. He really should try to do more original stories.
well i have read SiP for a while now. I have all three tpb editions. I liked SiP in black and white better then in colour but that is amatter of prefence. I doing on thign fora while gets boring even for great writers and artists. I just hope that this isa phase he is goign through and will pass in the next couple of issues.
It's Gen13 Bootleg, not fanize which Terry will be doing a story (just to nit pick). I'm all for letting him do different stories and all, but this story line where he has Francine and Katcho break up is sick! What is he thinking?
Even the best of relationships can fall apart. Considering the extraordinary events that have happened to them so far and their secret pasts which still haven't been fully revealed to us or each other, it's not too inconceivable that something would tear them apart. It still SUCKS that Terry would do this though.
It's gotten to issue number #4 and the feeling of doom is slowly fading, but still. I really liked this issue but where they ended it... ARG! I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL NEXT MONTH!
AND WHERE'S THE OTHER TATTOO? (There, that ought to confuse people who don't read it.)
Ah gee, I was thinking the same thing! Anybody want to guess...on her ankle?
I also want to know who the other woman with the tattoo is? Did I just miss something there? That kind of scared me. I'm wondering if they're trying to get to Katchoo through Francine now.
Ohhhhhh! Why don't they just get the money in the bank that Kat stole and get out of there?
Because that would end the series and we have 10 years of story to fill. It's called "padding."
oh
It seems to me that Katchoo just doesn't want to blow her cover by not touching the money. As soon as she attempts to move the cash from Switzerland to the U.S. , that weill alert the mob to the fact that she has the money. Or did she take care of that?
I'm impressed Ben. I didn't think about that, but they COULD just live in Switzerland...
well, the mob could just follow them up to switzerland, possibly putting a couple horses head on their pillows. The mob would be restricted by borders really.
You've been watching Godfather again haven't you Ben?
actually I saw it for the first time before spring break, we should rent it some time , dave.....hm
I just saw it the other day...
Strangers and Paradice is going back to the balack and white format in issue #6. Creator Terry Moore states, "Black and white is more truthful to the mood I'm trying to achieve in the story. I don't think color moved me any closer to what my vision of the material is... Books like Sin City and Bone achieve their creators' visions in black and white, and my sentiments are just closer to those than to color for the sake of color."
I'm glad their making this change. It just wasn't the same. I wouldn't mind that much if the could have only found a good colorist... The colors were too neon and not realistic. If they only toned it down, added more gradents, lighting effects, textures, it could have looked better. I also REALLY like Sin City and Bone. I would like to see how Disney adventures colors Bone though. They are working on reprinting issue #2 in color through their little digest.
Are you responding to yourself David? I'm glad that Terry Moore chose to return to a B&W comic, but I liked having an idea of how they look in color. Besides, with the continuous announcments of new comic-based action figures, shouldn't we have a color guide of sorts for SIP action figures? (I can dream, can't I?)
I like the way you dream, but SiP action figures will only be in your dream... but SiP scultures are more posible. I would like a sculture with all three of the characters in the buuny outfits with the "cute one" sigh...
Well, _Strangers In Paradise_ is the series that got me back into comics. I love good stories, and Terry Moore spins 'em. The art's pretty nice, too! I liked the series in B&W, but I also enjoyed seeing it move into color. I guess rumor has it that it's going back to B&W. Either way... I didn't mind the jump in the storyline from Abstract to Image. I have faith in Terry Moore's storytelling. I'm happy to see where he goes with it.
Strangely enough, Image put out yet another varient cover for SiP V.3 #1. This one has Francine and Katchoo tied up and surrounded by villains out of WildC.A.T.S. (I can't remember what they're called.) The cover is a good laugh, making fun of SiP's entry to Image and costs $6 at Vault of Midnight.
Well I just read the latest SiP (what are we at now?) and I noticed the change to B&W. Frankly, even though I was excited when I first heard they were making the changewhen I saw it I wasn't so happy. Now I'm not sure wiethre this is because I like it in color or if was the art (when drawing for color you draw it diffently then if it was just B&W... Terry might have drawn this issue thinking that it was going to be in color then changed his mind). Frankly I'd like to conitue seeing it color. I don't think it was the problem wit the color, but the colorist.I don't think Terry wants to look any more citing that he was fustrated with getting it right. Aother thing I'd like to point out is the two text pages in the middle. I understand text pages... Iloved it in Watchmen and in previous SiP... but this didn't feel like a real need for it. Like this could have been drawn in those two pages.I don't think it would mad a difference for anyway presented although seeing the expersions on their faces would have been nice. Over all al great issue. I still am not sure if I like this road twards the break up though... you feel it coming.
I liked the return to B&W. I see more facial expression, now, which was one of Terry's strengths. Did anyone notice that April was skipped going from issue #5 to issue #6? #5 was March, and #6 was May. I think Terry was interested in getting things caught up. Perhaps color was slowing things down a bit much.
Well, although I wasn't planning on it, because I'm on a subscription list for it, I wound up with a copy of the first issue of the re-issue series. The logo is done in metalic gold to differentiate it from the original issues. I enjoyed beginning to re-read the story, and the notes at the end were interesting. I presume Terry's planning to include some extra notes at the end of each issue.
Quote CSN, "Strangers In Paradise, which joined the Homage Comic line last fall, is going its own way once again beginning in September. "It's been an honor to be a part of the Homage group," Terry Moore said. "There is no question that Strangers in Paradise has benefited from the association. But I designed SiP to be my sole means of creative output, and right from the beginning I knew I would self-publish. Fortunately, things worked out well for me, despite the industry challenge." Jim Lee added, "I believe Terry helped us as much as we helped Terry. But ultimately, what the Homage Comics line is all about is creators determining the futures of their own books, and Terry has made the decision that only he can make. We all wish him the best, and I know that I'll keep reading SiP as long as he produces it." The last Homage issue is Stranger in Paradise #8, an August release; there will also be a commemorative poster the same month."
What's CSN?
RE #39 Could it be Crosby Stills & Nash?
